If you're gonna have pvp, at least fix this engine its latency issues so that when I attack a white mage halfway through his repose cast, it doesnt go off anyway sleeping me for thirty seconds!

Sounds like you are attacking them too late in the Cast.
Not SEs fault. Yours. Get Quick.
If the animation, the damage number, and the name of the attack pop up before they end their cast, the cast should be cancelled.
The engine is SEs fault.
In my experience in this game, and in past MMOs, if your Spell gets to a certain %, it is unable to be interrupted. This may be the reason behind it going through, even though you are attacking the mage.
I know this to be true on Mobs, ie Ifrit HM Eruptions, Dhorme Chimera etc.
