    Implement Notorious Monster spawns/HNMs/BCNMS! *MUST READ*

    This is for Yoshi P and any other players that would agree!
    Please help me get some feedback and suggestions on this please!

    For anyone whos ever played FFXI... we all know how much fun camping NM's were. I think if Yoshi P implements the Notorious monster spawns, it would bring a new challenge for the newer players including the more hardcore type players.SUGGESTION: Have NM's or HNM's Spawn across the world in different locations, when you kill the NM or HNM, it will not spawn for certain amount of time, when it does spawn.. it wont be in the same location, but near the same area. The NM will spawn within a time period that has "Windows" basically when the window is open. the NM has the ability to pop up, but if it doesnt, there will be more windows.[FONT="Arial"]Thank you. drop percentage extremely LOW. Suggestions welcome!

    Ahhh memories. This is one of my favorite threads from 1.0 forums. The difference is that 1.0 had regular NMs that popped very often and dropped very often, so people wanted HNMs. They (they, it is always they! the minority masses) only wanted them "For the challenge, fun, and pride they would provide," but insisted that they have amazing drops as well -- something that isn't required for the three things they said they wanted HNM for. Not only did HNMs not make the game, but now it is more instanced and even the little NMs have been pulled.

    I do not see this happening like. . . ever in xiv, but thanks for the fond 1.0 memories

    There are NMs that spawn as parts of FATEs though. Heck, there are even NMs from Vana'diel that spawn as parts of FATEs!

    How does the FATE system fall short, aside from not (usually) dropping any loot?

    Okay, but how would they be different? I don't understand what's different between NM or HNMs, in your mind, vs NM and HNM FATEs?

    There's actually also things like Ifrit, Garuda, Titan story, HM, and XM now, along with Ultima Weapon HM and Good King Moggle Mog XII, which are (in my mind?) similar to BCNMs?

    I played a game called Tera Online for a little while. It was very similar to this game mechanic wise. They had mobs that were known as BMs which were massive versions of normal mobs and they had 2x-3x HP and had some different fight mechanics which made them hard to solo (you'd need help from 2-3 others). Those were fun, but the downside is they put them into quests (ie. kill this many of such and such) which was annoying since hardly anyone played that game. If they implemented monsters that were to drop BiS loot then they'd need to follow some similar mechanic. The new EM primals are out that do just that, however, I do remember what you are talking about and I do miss it. Unfortunately the way the game is I don't see it being feasible to implement such mobs. What would be the point with the primals already in the mix?

    This is actually one of the things I DON'T miss from FFXI. Waiting around for an NM to spawn, then being lucky enough to tag it and THEN being lucky enough a drop and THEN get the drop that's worth something was a serious waste of time. There was no challenge to camping monsters. It was all luck. Add in the fact that many PS3 players like myself suffer from latency issues, we probably wouldn't even tag it if our screen showed us hitting it before someone else did. The old FFXI NM mechanic can stay dead.

    The difference would be the competition to claim. I had always found that exciting during my time in FFXI. Its totally understandable if you didnt like it hahaha, I mean I didnt most of the time, but most of the hard times gave good memories for me and my buddies...

    Greater challenges reap greater rewards and that's not always in the form of gold or items... That much is true. Unfortunately the old FFXI is gone now. People traded it for "fast food MMOs". Good thing 14 still has challenges to it.

    I really don't know which FFXI you played, I remember one with a shitfest called HNMs, where it was a fight of HNMLS & the one with the latest bot would win, without talking bout HNMs like Khimaira which pop on 3-5 days windows with a 4% chance of drop.

    Clearly, it was fun.


    While some of your ideas are good, I will repeat what I said in another thread related to this matter.

    Depending what these NMs/HNMs would drop, the playerbase wouldn't take a month before the said drops become a staple/mendatory if its good.

    Then we'd go over the "WP Speedrun, X HNMs drop only."

    We don't have time for these shits nowaday. The Idea is good, but the drops would have to be equal to what we have now for the sake of diversity only.
