While I agree that webcams are probably not a good idea, I did want to say that you have NO rights to privacy at a public work space. Privacy only extends to your personal property and to the bathroom.

This depends on the work place and state/national laws.

But if we don't put cameras in the bathroom, we can't make sure they aren't lallygaging trying to waste time.

You know, i don't think SE offices are really "public". I'd say more "only for workers".
