commendations are really depressing

How to easily get commendations:
Play PLD, WAR, SCH, or WHM even remotely decent.

How to never get commendations:
Play SMN, BLM, BRD, DRG, or MNK at all.

I make it a point to always give my commendations to a damage dealer, assuming they weren't compete morons, but the 1 commendation limit is pretty depressing. The amount of commendations should be half the party size.

i got commendations when playing my brd , even my drg , folllow marks , do dmg look for mobs that agro the healer and pull them to tank (or CC ) , do your DPS thing and avoid aoe....if u chat a bit btw pulls better

i give my commendation to the 1 i think deserved it the most , and yup sometimes i give it to a DPS

Things that helps me to decide how to vote

- hello or hi you are on my list (emotes can do)
- if group encounters some difficulty and someone explains to others
- fun / entertaining talk
- if very good group I am sad i have to pick randomly no matter which role
- if you are the only left the time I can vote you ll get the vote (unless you had bad attitude)

If you mention "hey don't leave immediately, I want to give some/all you commendations" then they might stick around for a bit? I dunno, seems like the simplest, current, solution to me.

Thats a lie :< I get more on my DRG then I do when I tank perfectly on the WAR. Most of the time I try to be helpful to the lower levels if im in that run and get told to shut up .. maybe i have poor luck.

What depresses me is the fact that I almost always run instances with my friend, and because of it, I can't give out any commendations, even if people don't leave immediately. In nearly every run we did tonight, there was at least one person I wanted to commend, and couldn't because of this ridiculous restriction.

I get that they don't want people to spam commendations on their buddies, but all it takes to prevent that is to not allow people to give commendations to people they entered the instance with, not take away the ability entirely.

If someone is an exceptional player and really stands out, I'll give them the commendation. If everyone was pretty much equal, I just give it to the dps since they seem to be the hardest to get commendations as. People who beg for them will never get one from me, no matter how well they played.

I know it will never catch on, but it would be cool if tanks/healers gave each other commendations, and if dps did the same. Everyone would leave the dungeon with one, baring those who clearly don't deserve it.

Then why not just have the system automatically just give each player a commendation for each instance? Better yet, just mail us the mount and title/rewards and skip the whole process all together.

Um... no, not really. There's these things called USB keyboards, that 99% of PS3 players use. People don't talk because they're antisocial and just want to get done with the multiplayer crap so they can get back to their MMO single player RPG simulator. Assuming that PS3 players are the root of EVERY problem is arrogant and foolish. You should be ashamed.

I haven't played post 2.1 so apologies if anything has changed but the Duty Finder leaves people with no reason to actually create relationships with players - most of them are on other servers, so you're never gonna see them again anyway. It's a terrible system, relationship wise.

After two months, I have just two friends, despite running dungeons almost every day.

Maybe try running with the Party Finder? I think that matches you with people on your own server. They might be more inclined to hang around.
