My question to all of the elitists

If every group you join, you claim that everyone without full DL/Allagan and Zenith are undergeared for Garuda HM, I have just one simple question for you:

How did you do it, then?


Oh that's right. It's not that a gear level between 60-70 is too low. It's that since you've gained enough gear to become complacent about how you play, you've decided that it is beneath you to actually have a challenge like the first people who went through Garuda (HM).

I started playing when ARR went to beta 3. I stopped for 2 months, came back, and found that the entire endgame is comprised of people waiting to play and people who are saying those who are waiting to play are too gimped to play. To top off this obvious incorrect assumption, most of the elitists are complaining that the game is too easy.

I understand NCLB left many USA kids in need of serious critical thinking skills, but this one should be a no brainer: Help those who are looking for a leg up if you need a challenge. I'm not being a hippy about this; I'm killing two birds with one stone (hippies don't kill birds, except with their music).

Don't get me wrong, I heal just fine in groups and other than a few gear checks, my skill more than makes up for lack of stats. And I understand the DPS checks in something like Titan. But when I can't even get a group together, because people are too concerned that the game will actually require a strategy other than "just burn it down", I feel ashamed for the ffxiv community.

And I'm sure there are plenty of threads just like this one. My point of posting a new one is that the subject has become worse over the last few months.

From reading this I'll assume that you're sitting in RT seeing all the shouts for gear requirements for people farming that. Use the DF. If you're using the DF and someone is being a jackass and refusing to help/trying to make you leave/wiping you all on purpose to get people with better gear in, use the vote-kick system to get rid of said person making your game experience untolerable.

I'm not even one of these people but: By starting my own party instead of whining that people way overgeared than I am won't carry me. Whoa what a concept.

Some people aren't looking for the "challenge" of carrying gimps through content and are more interested in farming as quickly as possible with no hiccups.

I've had my fair share of full af+1 and relic tanks that can't tank more than one mob, a healer who heals through cleric stance and can't heal more than the tank, and dps who sit in every AoE that mobs spawn.

Gear can only get you so far, where skill and timing is what makes a great player. I try to tell that to people when they are harsh on people with lower gear than them. But people will be ignorant no matter what.

Which would you rather do: 1. Try to break down a brick wall with your face? Or 2. Go get a sledge hammer first then try to break down the wall.

Before criticizing people for being elitist please understand they want the same thing you do. People should work (play) smarter not harder. Which for this game means knocking out gear checks. When I see people LF titan party with just grand company weapon I am not likely to give them a hand tbh. When I went for garuda/titan I had taken the time to get full DL (minus 2 jewelry slots that were ak) and ifrit weapon. And with philo tomes at an all time ease to get with roulette netting 300 for a fast cm/praet run and 100 for a low dung even causal players can get accumulate some tomes in a short time online daily.

So please give your face a rest and go get your hammer. It is a rough task to begin with your first time and going in without adequate tools is just wasting your time. Why make a fight harder than it has to be?

I don't think it's fair to call someone "gimp" when they meet the ilvl requirements to do the dungeon. Now if they're wearing a bunch of true garbage gear (like level 30 accessories at level 50) then that's another story. But if someone is in full AK gear with a Primal weapon and maybe some DL accessories, they're not gimp; they're just outgeared by everyone around them.

Didn't ask for them to carry me. If anything, I asked for them to stop joining groups that I made with the disclaimer that we didn't have "super omega gear +5 haxxors" and leaving over and over again. Don't trivialize the whole concept just because you cannot understand a basic point. K, thanks.(I felt I had to add that, since you added something extra to your post)


I guess I just don't see the point of being a jerk (ironic, considering my retort to Pallas). I regularly help out on Hydra and Chimera now. I also let people know what item level I'm at (for the record, 62; my weapon is a joke, thus wanting to continue the march towards better stuff). I have been personally using DF for just about everything, just because the people in RT on my server won't roll with anyone i80 or lower.

There are some people who will, I'm not saying they don't exist. But the overwhelming amount of people who are doing stuff like responding with bad gif art bring down the social level.

To that point, the reason my weapon is a joke is because finding a group to grab the higher primal weapons or relic is part of the problem that the OP was acknowledging.

This is correct. Unfortunately, I've seen too many players that, while they have their AF (aka welfare ilvl50), their other slots are usually populated with sub level 20 items or worse, in some cases, they don't even have a ring on. There's accessories you can get from the Grand Company as well.

Hopefully, 2.2 will force those people to smash their faces against a wall. Want level 100 gear? Go do level 100 content. Stop this bs of rewarding the best gear for doing the weakest instance, and this will stop.

Maybe that is the biggest issue. Barring self-serving human urges(which I understand will never get any better), the fact that you can obtain lvl 90 gear from something that should be done by i50's is probably the greatest reason that groups consistently fail.
