Beak To The Grindstone is a Hyperion linkshell with the sole purpose of helping its members level up their chocobo companion. The fastest way to increase your feathery companion's ranks is by killing level 50 mobs in a party, so that's where Beak To The Grindstone comes in, just simply pop in LS chat and form a party by asking who else wants to come join. ^^

Getting your choco to rank 10 is not a simple task, it is an exp grinding session that will take weeks-months to complete. That's the reason why our linkshell is called 'Beak To The Grindstone', taking off of the phrase "Nose to the grindstone" which simply means "to work hard", "focus heavily on work", or "hard at work" (Though this doesn't mean you have to work at it non-stop of course ^^, work at your own pace).


● Interested in ranking up your chocobo and/or interested in doing spirit bonding from time to time
● A class at level 50 (because the place we level our chocobos is fighting level 47-50 mobs at Urth's Fount)


Here is a great video created by Doctor Mog explaining how to rank up your chocobo, it's currently the fastest known way to progress your chocobo to rank 10.

South Shroud (33,23) - East of Quarrymill (at Urth's Fount). Gather up the Water Sprites, circle the large crystal in the center to bunch up all the Water Sprites, then AoE them. Possible to solo this with White Mage, but is recommended to do in a group of 2+

On average I made 100,000 exp per 50 minutes of solid grinding at Urth's Fount with a party of 2 or greater. Here is a chart that shows how much exp is required for each rank and how much time it'll take leveling at Urth's Fount to reach the next rank.

Teleporting to Quarrymill to repair gear, then riding back to Urth's Faunt takes about 1 minute, you'll have to repair your gear about (rough estimate) 40 times, so add about 40-60 minutes for time taken to repair gear when needed.
Keep in mind that this is just time spent grinding on the mobs at Urth's Fount (pulling a group, killing the group, and waiting for it to respawn), this of course doesn't count for pauses, breaks, screw-ups, etc.

Wow a lot of you wanted to level up your chocobos, we now have over 40 members (went from 1 member to 40+ members in just 12 hours). Looks like we're gonna do a lot of leveling, hope to see more of you guys join ^^

Hello everyone and Merry Christmas! I just got my chocobo to rank 10 so I'm very happy this Christmas ^^ I started leveling my chocobo the same day I created this linkshell, and now one week later I obtained rank 10. I wanted to let all of you guys know just how easy it can be if you stay determined, If you do just a couple hours a day you could reach rank 10 from 0 in just a couple weeks.

Also, I updated the OP with a chart that shows how much exp each rank requires, as well as how long it'll take to do each rank, then a total amount at the bottom. Enjoy and hope it helps! ^^
