Global Chat

RMT will still get to you via other methods in just as much frequency. The current state of the game needs global chat so you can get things done. People continue to say "I play games for the community as well as the content." Right now XIV has neither community nor content.

What is even worse, is that the community is fractioned between languages so you feel even less involved with the people you are playing with.

Right now I guess I'd be cool with it. The game feels so dead I miss Whitegate shouts >.>
When the population increases and reaches a "normal" number, I will be against it, although I wouldn't mind as long as it could be turned off. Sadly global chats work like magnets, and the people they attract are very often the ones you don't wanna hear talk.

Totally agree. My blacklist was maxed out in Aion with spam bots and morons within a week.

In an MMORPG, communication with other players is paramount. I do not see why we should not have global chat channels.

According to some of the lolrpers it would ruin immersion because apparently being able to walk up a cliff is immersive.

No, just no. Global chat is garbage. If they give an option to let you enter or leave, then it may be ok... But I dunno, was never a fan of global chat in LOTRO either.

Considering you have the option to filter /shout, then I don't think this would be any different. I conceptualize a "global channel" as just like a /shout, but server wide.

I've never seen global chat be a positive thing.
In every game I've seen "Global Chat" = Global spam/harassment/crude language/RMT advertisements.

I agree. However, it seems that enough people want it that it reasonably should be added. Just give us the option not to use it. I know I sure don't want to see it anymore.

No, thank you. I understand what youre looking for but just join a LS. Global chat, as many have stated in just a place for bigots and gold sellers to spam. Its sad that this is the current state of global chat in MMO's but all good things are eventually corrupted and the concept of global chat in MMO is one of them.

Wanna feel like you are part of a community? Reach out to a LS and try to make friends. Random, faceless, text-shout battles spamming the chat log is not communication.

I understand what youre looking for but just join a LS.

Many of us have joined linkshells. Some of us even run them. They're dying as the game loses more and more players. The green /l chat gets rarer and rarer to see.

Global chat can be used for:

* Linkshell recruitment
* Finding repairs
* Forming parties
* Making the world feel less quiet and lonely

And so much more.

I'm a night owl and often I'm not on the same play schedule as others. Often in other MMOs, when my guild members were all in bed, global chat was all I had to keep me company.
