Also I am anticipating this game's growth if its going to succeed so that's doubly and triply true. Also the fact that you can't talk with the entire server makes the world feel larger for me personally, like there are people out there I don't know exist and they don't know I exist. And lastly, I've seen it used in other games and It annoyed me more than anything, everyone is always talking over each other, spamming WTB/WTS, etc. etc. but that's just me.

Couldn't you just filter it out, or put it on another tab, or blacklist individual spammers?

Maybe yes, but I am simply going to go with "I am against it"...I don't mind that you guys want it nor would I really be upset if it ever shows up but I don't like it.

I think the best solution that wouldn't ruffle anyone's feathers would be to have people sign up to every channel they are interested in. People who don't care, won't notice. And people who do care can turn on and off the various channels at their leisure.

Of course, with all this new chatter, another tab would be desirable.

At first i was frustrated by the lack of a global chat because i didnt understand zip of what was going on and i didnt have anyone to ask my cazillion questions.
A bit later i came to appreciate the lack of chat, now i like the quiet, but imho global chat will be beneficial to the game and should be implemented.
There are good and bad things about not having global chat, and there are good and bad things about having it, but after all is said and done, i think the good outweighs the bad when you have a chat.

I swear to god the people who always say no to things have never actually played another MMO. Almost every other AAA MMO has global chat channels and they do FINE. Nobody who plays those games complains about the global chat channels, because you can LEAVE the channels.

At this point, I'm pretty sure anyone who says no is just a blind WOW-hater, because WOW has global chat channels and clearly anything WOW has is bad.

If I wanted absolute silence all the time, I would play an offline game. The almost complete silence of FFXIV totally kills any sense of community the game might have otherwise had.

I totally agree with a global chat system. It seems so desolate and empty playing currently. No one talks in say or shout and running around in the field I rarely see anyone due to low server population. I feel like I'm playing an offline game.

Could always just add a "linkpearl" to the adventurers guild and make it available to everyone so it would connect us to each other and be "global" to be more "FFXIV" like and not like wow

and to add, guys you have to remember, this is a video game, not a chatroom, town chat is enough but it would be nice to see the linkpearl idea
