    No, thank you. I understand what youre looking for but just join a LS. Global chat, as many have stated in just a place for bigots and gold sellers to spam. Its sad that this is the current state of global chat in MMO's but all good things are eventually corrupted and the concept of global chat in MMO is one of them.

    Wanna feel like you are part of a community? Reach out to a LS and try to make friends. Random, faceless, text-shout battles spamming the chat log is not communication.

    Many of us have joined linkshells. Some of us even run them. They're dying as the game loses more and more players. The green /l chat gets rarer and rarer to see.

    Global chat can be used for:

    * Linkshell recruitment
    * Finding repairs
    * Forming parties
    * Making the world feel less quiet and lonely

    And so much more.

    I'm a night owl and often I'm not on the same play schedule as others. Often in other MMOs, when my guild members were all in bed, global chat was all I had to keep me company.

    NO!!! Global chat would make it feel like just another one of those poorly produced F2P featureless repetitive grind fests that come out every other day......oh wait...crap. Yea, better add global chat. m(_._)m

    Ugh, no thanks. Sure it's quiet, then raise a little hell? What's stopping you from talking over /sh now? You have LS, /t, and /p
    At this point in the game there is really no use for it. It's just another obnoxious feature that will make the game feel more or less like another one of Aeria's F2P games. If you like it so much, go there and see that it's all crap.

    Want to have a Search for party? Ask for a party flag and a tag in the party options to include a list of everyone who wants to. That's a lot more useful to people than a global chat where everything is lost in the continuous spam.

    If you're so against it, the toggle feature is there.

    Nobody responds in shout because it has limited range.

    Also, I'd rather not sit with a party flag for 5 hours like you have to use to in XI just to get a party. So I don't want a LFG feature unless they make it as successful as WoW's was.

    How does this make any sense at all? so you DON'T want a party seek feature but instead you want to spam the global chat and try and get your word in that you're making a party although almost everyone will ignore you because of the countless WTB/WTT/WTS spam going on on that channel? Instead of someone who is making a party pulls up the window to see who is seeking and sending you a /tell directly? I mean there are reasonable complaints and then there is this. TBH with you, I'll take party seek over global spam any day.

    I think that's a good reason why one single global chat channel would be a just a bad idea. Too many conversations going on at once does not make for a conducive environment.

    Global channels are not meant to be a replacement for the party seek feature as that's something that is, hands down, needed. But, I feel global channels can fill in the gaps when a party seek feature falls short.

    Suppose, if you will, Joe Blow just pick up some leves in Ul'dah and while he can solo them all, Joe would prefer to get together a small party. Now, Joe could try the party seek feature and hope the people looking for a party wouldn't mind doing some leves for a bit or he could shout right next to the crystal and hope someone is actually there and willing to help. Or, perhaps Joe could send a message to the leve global chat channel that he's about to do leves at X, Y and Z and wants to see if anyone is interested in joining him.

    Meanwhile, I'm out in the field hacking away at some botany nodes hoping for some sweet rare stuff, Teeny Tiny is in the market wards looking for a weapon that's not five times his height, and Miss Kitty is turning in some crafting leves at Black Brush ready to scratch someone's damn eyes out if she doesn't get a single guild mark points.

    What do we have in common? While not actively interested in joining a SP party, we all belong to the global leve channel and are all interested in helping out Joe Blow with a few leves.

    I'm just trying to highlight an example where people that haven't considered seeking could be pulled together just because someone was asking for assistance. My point being that one system supplements the other and is not meant to be a replacement.

    And, of course, this is just an example related to party seeking. There are plenty of other uses for global chat and situations where it would augment features already in the game. (Or features that should be in the game.)

    Yea I know, that response was specific to the person I quoted I know you're all not that shallow.

    And when you put it this way it gives it some merit, its a good example I'll give you that. I didn't say the system was completely useless but I was saying from my experience I dislike it because its a spam fest most of the time and a lot of trolling, its really no better than what goes on on these forums...hey maybe FFXIV will change its outlook if its ever implemented.

    I have yet to see a decent argument in this thread against having global chats. Gold sellers and spam not being ones, as you can obviously disable the global chats.

    You have global chat in the forms of LS, P and tell. No need for global shout basically.
