Reading the forums, there seems to be a lot of fuss over a select few changes and I feel that many of the great aspects of this patch are going unacknowledged. The general reaction seems very disrespectful based on how much time and effort the developers put into this game.

I think many people forget that this game is still pretty new. Only three months in and we're already receiving a major patch that has more features than many game's expansions. Sure, adjustments will be made. Give it time, save some gil up for awhile, and let the developers and players see the full affect of these changes in the coming weeks/months.

Regardless, I think Yoshi and his team deserve a great deal of appreciation and respect for the countless hours they devote into developing this game. They don't do it for free; they pour their life into this game for their fans and their community and that's something that shouldn't go unnoticed.

To each their own. You feel that a lot of major implementations are being looked over. Many others feel as if the only features they were actually looking forward to came with a gigantic slap in the face. Different people enjoy different things, and it's not the consumer's job to "respect" a product simply because of the time the seller of said product put into it. As novel as that is as an ideal, it just isn't going to happen (and you never see a "call" for it to happen for products other than MMOs), a bad product will still receive bad ratings and reviews regardless of how much time put in.

They do have a lot of good stuff coming with the patch, which is probably why many people aren't quitting entirely. They are however, completely justified in feeling angry or mislead, just as you're justified in not feeling that way.

Added as a note: For all intensive purposes, I am defining a "bad" product as one that the consumer base is unsatisfied with. I am also not calling FFXIV a bad product. I do, however, think their housing formula is majorly flawed. Since this was a major thing I was looking forward to, it skews my personal view on the patch. If we're going by Amazon standards, I'd likely give the patch a 3 out of 5 stars.

I agree with OP. I like the hard work and dedication, and all that jazz. So keep it up Yoshi. I'm one of many who enjoy the changes that are coming and me personally I see this as a challenge. So thank you for your hard work to you and your incredible team.

Insane patch, more content then most expansions in other MMOs.

Only thing I was upset about was that some of the Allagan drops were getting changed stats...and then.....they changed their mind and are going to keep it the way it was.
