Lets break this down . Small
class 5 = 8mil
class 4 = 8.5mil
class 3 = 9mil
class 2 = 9.8mil
class 1 = 10mil

Medium
class 5 = 30mil
class 4 = 31.875mil
class 3 = 33.75mil
class 2 = 35.625mil
class 1 = 37.5mil

Large
Class 5 = 100mil
class 4 = 106.250mil
class 3 = 112.5mil
class 2 = 118.750mil
class 1 = 125mil

If your a FC with say 5 people and your looking for the small house the cheapest one is 8mil . And lets say if you just save 20k a day per member to put down for the house that would be 100k each per day . ( assuming all 5 members are playing that day ) it will take you and your FC 80 days to get the smallest home on the cheapest land . Or 100 days for the smallest but best piece of land . 100 days = little over 3 months and that is IF all 5 members farm everyday and save 20k each .

Now lets look at the same FC who wants the huge house . For the Giggles of it . 5 FC members who want to save for the HUGE house at the same rate . 100mil cheapest large house will take that FC 1,000 days or over 2 and a half YEARS to get this level of a house again IF everyone everyday saves 20k a day . Now for the most expensive 125mil will take 1,250 days or about 3 years and 5 months . With 5 FC members .

Do the math if your FC has 10 members cut the totals down in half if you have 20 members half the total again . Active members that is . I know FC who have 50 or 100 members but only 10 or 20 active . This will be a long long term investment if you want the large house ( i do ) . Good luck to everyone on climbing this mountain . ( the 20k saving per player is just a example there are lots of ways to make Gil and different amounts people can save per day / week )

Not sure what the point of your post was. Having an in-game house is not a requirement for anything other than maybe some achievements. They are a luxury. If people want the luxury, they need to save their gil. If they do not want the luxury, they don't need to save their gil.

People need to check their misguided expectations. Expect Free Companies to start charging for membership, at least the ones that are serious about owning property with members that share the same interests.

If small free companies want to get a house faster, time to expend membership.

I think the "shock: some people have is that most FCs are made up of about 20 or 24 ACTIVE people . Because most wanted to make a FC where they can all do things like the 24 man raids as a group . And when the price came out a lot of people were taken back . If you read the patch notes the 24 man raid Crystal tower only 8 people can form a group then that 8 enters the duty finder . SO if you have 24 members there is a good chance you all wont go in together . Witch brings the question why have more then 8 ppl in your FC if you can not do things with everyone? I was expecting 100mil for the largest home . So the price is not a shock to me . The cheapest priced small house is i was thinking 5mil guess i was not off by much .

My FC wanted one.
I never really cared one way or the other. If I had auto-friend alts I would care even less. It's a warehouse as far as I am concerned.

Now it's a flag from SE to me, play the game like I played EVE. Selfish, ruthless, cold. I'm experienced.

Actually, it most certainly is. They said the price is high so that land wont sell out, meaning there is a finite amount of land. Reading between the lines, they are not implementing enough server capacity for all FCs to purchase land. So not only is the high cost off putting to so many people, even if they did consider endeavoring to save up the gil they need, there is no guarantee land will be available to them once they have.

Arbitrarily restricting content because they are not providing sufficient server resources is BS and unacceptable. Especially considering the successful launch (and tons of cash flow that resulted).

BTW, when the developers were hyping this content the entire time, the cost they were suggesting is about 10 times less than it ended up being (and that's not even considering the inflated prices for legacy servers). No one is kidding themselves, they were simply misled by the devs, as has been the case on multiple fronts in this game.
