Ultima ignoring shields?

So out of curiousity, has anyone else realized that Ultima Hardmode (or whatever it is) is not effected by parry, dodge? Was running it with my FC today and we realized all of his attacks are magical and that only a few things actually lowered the damage you received. I was on my warrior so i didnt get hit to hard, but our pally had a lot of problems. Any thoughts?

Not a bashing thread, love the fight, but its just insane. Its hard to see people who are using ilvl60ish gear being able to clear that without ripping there hair out.

If parry isnt used then wouldnt it be less of a detriment to run around with low parry from ilvl60 gear? It shouldnt be balanced around parrying if its intended to not be possible. I think the presence of heavy dps burst phases is also a big reason to bump the ilvl requirement. This guy hits harder than garuda does, but no adds to burn down or instawhipe (sorta), while extreme ifrit is probably the worst offender and has highest requirement.

I guess it could be a little unfair for pld, but you have to switch tanks anyway. So he wont just be put to work as a second rate dps. And bringing 2 wars for this would just be sad.
