Error 2002 - Cannot play the game

From what I understand, the error is in the routing to the servers. Some people have said it has to do with your router settings but it's still an issue for me even after I opened up the FFXIV:ARR specific ports. No news on the dev side of this error. There are at least a dozen different threads in the last month or so on this error. I'm guessing because it's not technically an "SE Server" issue and more about connecting to the server they are just brushing it under the rug. The strangest thing is it was only after the last big patch that I had this issue. Nothing in my household has changed, my service provider and hardware are all the same. Just doesn't make any sense to me.

As of the 1/9 patch I'm having this issue, but only after several 90K errors immediately following attempts log in to the game tonight. Now I cannot get in at all, just the 2002. Also using Win 7 Ultimate, but it's really strange to me to see this crop up after allowing me to log in previously.

Same issue.. ever since the 9th I've gotten the 2002 error. The first time I was actually able to get into the character selection menu but when I pressed whatever to get in game it crashed, ever since I've got the lobby server connection failure thing.

Well this is awkward but uhh.. tried some other multiplayer game and that was fucked too so I tried restarting the router and well.. works now..
