Please give us different aged characters

I've always wondered why we don't have much of an option in terms of the ages of our characters. It'd be fun to be a younger person, or an old person. I've seen some old-looking characters, but not entirely.

Most of the midlander Hyurs look around the same age. Final Fantasy games always have someone at least 17+ but all our characters look about 25-something +. Also, it'd be fun to play as a hunched-over old guy with sweet skills! Just saying, if we're talking about adding new types of characters, this would be an even cooler feature in addition to that...

Like Maat, or an old wizard. That would actually be a lot of fun, and add variety!

I'm against this, don't ask why.

JK :P but I did wanna say that with elves there are a few choices that differentiate in age but you're right the humans all looks about the same age and I haven't checked the other ones...I'm all for this.

The game designers live in the past, they think all players are teenage boys.
I managed with great effort to make myself a character that doesnt look like a youngster but then i get my first armor reward from a levequest....its underwear....so here is my middle aged character running around in undies....i setttled for my old start armor.
Sometimes i really wonder, are game developers thinking with their right or their left buttock?.

Well the majority of players in any fantasy MMO would be teens to young adults...I don't think they're living in the past at all. As they say, no one wants to see ugly characters.

An older crowd would be M rated oriented.

Who said ugly? You mean NOT being a teen is ugly? I stand offended :'(
Its all about options and the options are fairly limited and very "cliche" in most mmos, not only FFXIV.
Playing an ugly char is an option too, so why not, its a role playing game after all so why the limitation.
Oh and btw i really didnt get the "older crowd would be M rated", far as i know you will find a lot more..erm...M rated stuff in young crowds than you would in older crowds :P

Weird, it seems to me you can get a wide range of age diversity if you get creative with the character creator. At least for the Roegadyn there are lots of older/younger hairstyles, beards and no beards, colors that make you look younger or older. The only problem I see is that you can't get a fat keg belly instead of sixpack.
