There is no question that SMN is one of the better classes at the moment, it offers utility, damage, cc and rez; would I go as far as saying double smn party is unbeatable or overpowered ?
No not really, the fact is pvp is still new, people have not tested all the possibilities, or even unlocked the pvp skills. The off gcd pvp attacks offer a great way of bursting someone down, if you are able to initiate the attack first, something meele dps does better then ranged dps.
I would also argue that there are plenty of pvp resistances that people can take in order to prevent the excess amount of cc, also the difference in gear between certain players is too vast, and could make it even more frustrating when you are fighting a class that is already somewhat of a counter to your own
Bottom line is, Summoner is strong, but its also unfair to call something "OP" before you explore all the other different possibilities it would be best to reserve your judgment until a couple of weeks have passed
If you re kited as a melee you re seriously bad. There's so much tools to prevent it combined to resistance materias that yeah, just don't continue.
Summoners are like the easiest thing to deal with atm. Ran into multiple groups of in lvl 40 pvp and didn't have a single issue. Kill the pet like you would on a scholar, purify your dot, you re good to go. Play with LoS too.

They should just remove anything that isn't melee classes in this game. Maybe the nerf threads will start to disappear and then they can be happy.

I haven't had much of a problem killing SMN's on my DRG. They go down quick with 2 DPS on them. But I have never come across a double SMN team. That would be OP. Same with SMN/BLM. Or BLM/BLM.
If anything, sleep is more OP. It's dimishing returns reset mid battle. I get slept (30 seconds), then pop purify, then get slept again for 18 seconds, then 9 seconds, then 30 seconds again. WTF!?!?!? If your healer gets slept too and doesn't have purify, you are screwed.

^Agreed. Sleep is probably the most frustrating spell. I hate that the diminishing returns reset mostly. If they didn't, I'd almost be fine with the initial sleep time. Almost.
Someone mentioned in another thread that MNKs have a 240 potency PVP AoE ability for a skill that after it hits causes 9 seconds of pacification (I assume after some AP points applied), so I think SE tried to give balancing tools with some of those abilities to make up for it. But I can see why it would suck initially with few long range tools. But that long-range stun > Bootshine, man. That's gotten me a couple times.
Also, play with the pillars/running behind a wall, or just even running behind a caster, will interrupt target spells. We (apparently) can't finish a spell if you're not in front of us. That also screws up casting a lot of times. Especially since binding spells like Tri-Disaster are 2.5 (or even 3?) seconds long. We have Blizz II to make up for it, I guess, but I forget I even have it most battles.

Ok, as a SMN, I have to get this out first...
I originally wrote a very long post and was about to shorten it down but I realised everything I covered in the post has probably already been mentioned.
In short: Learn to play your classes. Read your skills, see what they can do. I've only played maybe 17 matches (give or take) and I have absolutely destroyed in some and have been absolutely destroyed in others. I find melee can get me down in seconds if they catch me at a bad time (swiftcast on CD, Purify on CD).
Plus, it's still early days. People are still learning how to adapt to their classes and handle PvP. Some fights have been like wild goose chases. The other team chasing our healer, and all of us chasing them chasing our healer. Once people start gearing up and learning to play, it'll probably get better.
Although I agree, some abilities need to be nerfed. But as I say, it's still early days.

Every class is pretty deadly if left unattended.
Dragoons have great burst damage with all of their cooldowns
Monks are great for chasing runners with firsts of wind / aoe silence / dispel
bards are great harass / support
black mage is black mage
THE LIST GOES ON!

But the have already changed base skills for PvP. It's obvious they won't or can't change how base skills work in PvP without it effecting PvE. I thought they were gonna have a completely different skill set for PvP but they just added PvP skills on top of PvE. They need to balance for PvE and forget this PvP balance crap. No one will ever be happy unless their class is winning everything because, everyone knows, they are losing due to their class being underpowered not because they suck at PvP. I like PvP. I just don't like it in my PvE games. It screws everything up.
