    Quests and FATEs should not mix.

    When Dynamic events were introduced to the MMO world, they were a direct challenger to the old system of long quest logs and fetch tasks.

    The key feature was the lack of overhead and commitment. You didn't need to be in a group. You didn't have to talk to any NPCs. It was just emergent content you participated in and moved on.

    That has been the case for most of the FATEs in FFXIV. But I've been noticing a growing trend starting with FFXIII where these dynamic events are tied into progressive content.

    FATEs are no longer emergent once you're forced to talk to NPCs and go to specific location to wait for them. They're no longer dynamic when you have to participate in order to progress. Putting them in quests regresses the creation of dynamic events.

    tl;dr - Wrapping a quest around a FATE defeats the purpose and design of a FATE.

    I was more upset about waiting an hour and a half for each Crystal Tower fate to finally spawn. Took about 4 hours just to finally unlock it.

    That's why I've yet to do Hildibrand when I saw it was a fate :/ At least waiting until the 19th when they said they were adjusting it

    I don't think the FATEs are the issue. The respawn rates on them, is. Why they thought standing around for 30-60 minutes was a great idea is beyond me. Reminds of the idiotic NM system from FFXI. I have no idea who considers that kind of thing fun.

    CT & coil lockouts are worse then any NM in FFXI. fates dont even count as content there just a zerg fest with nothing thats happens from a win or loss.

    You do realize that this long spawn rate is actually a bug that has been acknowledge in the Lodestone AND which the maitenance tonight is going to fix?
