FF11 and FF12 are the greatest near brothers, as FF1-FF4 barely changed back in those days and quite similar FF 6 and FF9, FF7-FF8, etc. The projects end up like that due to who gets put in charge and what seems popular, etc.

Even FF spirit within...you can see a lot of resembles to FF8 of due to their staff.

Messing with success is never something to take lightly. Being forced to mess with success can be disastrous as we see in hindsight.
Agreed, Every FF I ever played II-XII with the one exception of XII All had the same basic principle of combat. A menu driven combat/casting system. Although some people I'm sure loved XII, I thought the gambit system completely destroyed that game and so many others agree to this. So what does that tell us? Don't F****** deviate from what works. The main differences throughout the series are mini-games, character development, environment, graphics and story. That's where they should have focused their efforts. There were, IMHO, absolutely no flaws in the combat and interactive UI mechanics of XI. Small tweaks, great! Hotbar omfg NO!

Most fans of the series love it for the epic story. Even XI had incomparable and epic story lines. If SE does not develop this within the next year they will certainly lose the Sub of this 7 year XI vet...
