Can't play the game client always crashes (graphic card Geforce 285 GTX ) windows 7

i always get the message unable to detect directx device and client crashes i tried to increase fan speed for my graphic cards with http://www.evga.com/precision/ but that didnt help


am using windows 7 64 bit with 2 Geforce 285 GTX i tried to enter the game with SLI and without SLI function always getting same problem

nevermind i fixed the problem with MSI afterburner and raising the fan speed to 70% my cards were heating up then shutdown and thus the message unable to find directx device

If you're having overheating problems, there is one setting in particular you can change in the FF Config program that will drastically improve performance with no hit to quality. If your General Draw Quality is set to 9 or 10, lower it to 8. 9 and 10 cost exponentially more processing for no gain in quality (especially if you run with AA on) that can be seen. If you want the full technical reason behind this, its posted in many threads; the basics being that 9 and 10 draw the screen larger then your resolution then shrink it down to fit.

Oh thanks, I'm going to try that myself right now, I've been running at 10 with 2x GTX 570s.

Well, how do you like that. Rather than running at 85+ average utilization on both cards, now I'm hovering around 50 on both. Thanks a lot, no more 90-degree temps for me!
