You know this for a fact that the majority don't like fates? Also it is "my" feedback not "our" feedback, you do not speak for anybody but yourself.

No one in their right mind likes to do FATEs.... people just "dealt with it" because it was the fastest way to level up. Now that they fixed up the dungeons a bit, less and less people will be participating in FATEs.
And for event FATEs ... yeah well we have no choices lol

This holiday event was the epitome of lazy holiday quest design. Gigantic FATE, no quest. That's it.
Please make them worth our time, or don't do them at all.

FATEs should be used for NM world encounters and chained events that can change or alter the environment (temporary unsafe areas kind of like Svara though that's a poor example). They should never be used in quest progression, unless the quest can trigger them. There is no reason why hundreds of people should have to camp a spawn point for hours and days on end to complete these events just to complete quests or unlock content.
Fair enough, SE want FATEs to be more important than just leveling and farming tools, but forcing them on players in order to progress without any way to get them to pop aside from camping is not fun, it's painful, useless and aggravating. The option of waiting until the rush is over and doing them later is valid, but only because it is currently necessary as lots of people don't have the time to camp FATEs. It should never be necessary to avoid quest progression as a valid way of completing content.
Blah FATEs was all well good until they put EVERY Event as a FATE and started forcing them into quests...now I Can't stand them I feel they are more of a chore and lack fun

Part of me thinks FATEs are being used beyond the original scope planned by the DEVs of this game. Example: The maintenance tonight to increase the quest related FATEs to spawn more.
(assumption):
They have to do this hotfix because they probably had some overall FATE restrictions per zone to only allow X to spawn in a Y period of time. Now that they keep adding more FATEs to spawn they are running into issues where FATEs aren't spawning as fast as they should be... because the queue of that handles which FATE spawns is getting full basically.

i like fates (not grinding them), but i do agree that they pail into comparison of what GW2 does with them. it would be a good thing to start making them a little more elaborate and dynamic tot he map that they are on.

I actually really liked the latest Holiday Fate, I found it very easy and had done it multiple times before I realized I had 90 more crystals than I could possibly need.
I thought they were on a half hour timer, also if you caught the one in Thanalar you could immediately teleport to Noscea and grab that one as well and at least get silver. Further I've noticed the fate up a lot in higher level zones (maybe the difficulty is a bit much compared to syncing for the newbie zone ones) but the point still stands that you could have done these passively as well as you leveled or whatever. The fate events at this point are pretty ridiculous. I mean, we've got a new seasonal event going on that requires you to spend an hour camping (not even participating, just waiting) fates and you're done with it. Bam, nothing left as far as the event goes.
Might as well not have an event since there's no reason to care about it after doing the required fate 3 times. I'm pretty disappointed about that.
I haven't read most of the thread but I really don't see the alternative here. The holiday stuff was completable in about an hour and a half, do you want that like shaved down, do you just not like camping things?
Dyvid so mostly your wishlist is fulfilled I guess?

There's nothing intrinsically bad about FATES; I enjoyed this holiday one. The problem is that we shouldn't have to wait for them. I don't think anyone would be complaining if FATES required by quests or events were able to be activated by players any time they are in the area, like we can with battle leves.
It's the downtime of staring at your map for 30 minutes to an hour that frustrates players.
Event FATEs would be extremely tolerable if they occurred at set times. For example, if I knew the Christmas Event in Central Thanalan always activated at 1:15, 2:15, 3:15, etc, at least I could arrive for the event and not have to wait for it to show up. Also raises chances that other people might be there to do it with me.There's nothing intrinsically bad about FATES; I enjoyed this holiday one.
