    Suggestions from Experienced MMO Player

    Hi! \o

    I played several MMOs, and always look their systems, seen what rly matters to make the game be fun and interesting. I will try to suggest some things to SquareEnix, things that I believe will transform the Final Fantasy XIV in a better MMO and more competitive to the future MMOs. I have level cap characters in this MMOs: TERA, RaiderZ, Cabal, GW2 and AION. And tested every new MMO such as: Blade and Soul, ArcheAge, WildStar, Cabal 2, X.A.O.C.... And a lot more, I'm just trying to show that I know a little what is good for a MMO. I rly hope you guys like and leave comment about this and RLY hope SquareEnix can read this. Lets go.

    Concept: I think the combat in FFXIV is one thing must have some changes, I'll not try to change the combat to "full action" despite i rly like the action combat in MMOs, but I understand the FFXIV wasn't made to this style BUT, this little and 100% viable changes, could make the game more attractive to players who likes the "action style" and can be still comfortable to the "target style" fans. (If you dont know what is a Action MMO and Target MMO, is simple: TERA Online is a Action MMO and AION is a Target MMO. In Actions MMOs you play a MMO with a combat system like Assassin's Creed, Prince of Persia or any other adventure game)

    Changes: Just make the Skills be all Skillshot based. SquareEnix tried to make the combat in FFXIV is a "positioning fighting" were some skills you need to be out the red mark to dodge them. Just do this with all or most of the players skills. For a example i'll use my monk skills.



    As you can see in this screens, the Pugilist/Monk have these two skills:
    Arm the Destroyer, a AoE/SkillShot type and Bootshine, a target based skill.

    Convert all skills like Bootshine to Skillshot/AoE skills with small areas of effect to make the combat more dynamic, and let only a few special skills with target based, like pursuit skills (for example skills were you jump to your target to prevent escapes).

    And you must NEED too add these target options: When no enemies are targeted and a player use a AoE skill, the closest foe to player will be targeted automatically. Creating with this a new dynamic to target enemies, of course the players still can choose the enemies with Tab and click.

    As far as turning the game to 'full action' goes, it will never happen.

    Not only does that not fit with the FF series, which is traditionally a turn-based role-playing game series, SE actually tried a more action-orientated battle system at version 1.0's launch, and failed miserably. It wasn't popular, in fact it was downright awful, and was rightly scrapped in a patch, being replaced with auto-attack which provided the basis for the ARR battle system.

    FFXIV might still have some action elements in it, but it is still very much a time-based system where attacks are determined by the global cooldown, not how fast you can mash the keys/buttons.

    Yeah, what i suggest wasn't put this game a "action mash button", keep the global cooldown, keep everything.

    Just put ALL skills with the skillshot/aoe effect system.
