i have both at 50 and agree with most of what you say here, besides the part where you say it has an edge over Pally in 4mans and speedruns, there isnt a single bit of content in the game, (pre patch) that a WAR had a edge over pallys in, maybe you just worded it wrong.My toughts :
A lot of wonderful changes making us more solid tank with even more damage output. To me WAR had an edge over PLD in 4men dungeons /speed runs, and it's even more true now.
But I'm pretty sure we're NOT on par with PLD when it comes to damage mitigation, we're missing at least a BIG defensive CD insted of weaklings like Inner beast & Thrill of battle.
There is still no room in raid for offtanks. Regarding raids (Titan HM+, coil) we're at best a second choice.
Holmgang needs an increase in duration from 6 to 15 seconds to be nearly on par with Hallowed Ground.
Inner beast is not like Rampart. The low duration together with the attack speed of the enemy makes it worth a 3s Rampart most of the time. It's more like Shield+Bulkwalk.
But well, did coil with War 2 days ago and it was a piece of cake.
We have still less damage mitigation compared to pld, but way more damage output.

A great example is mountain buster from Titan, a pally pops hallowed a few seconds after the heart phase while at full health, this means zero dmg for 10 seconds and 0 heals required, the healers can make sure everyone else in the group is fine whilst not having to worry about me for a full ten seconds. Now compare that with Holmgang. WAR pops it, his hp drops to 1 really quickly (if healers concentrate on the rest of the group) then the pressure to have him healed back up to a pretty high amount is still there for the healers. Its maybe 40% of a hallowed at best. Now if they would of left Inner Beast the way it was instead of the terrible nerf this wouldnt be such a problem. The one and only reason i still wont go back to my beloved WAR is simply the IB nerf. Now all WAR is, is a poor mans Pally. Such a shame.

Titan is a 1 tank fight
Coil are 2 tanks fight
Off tanking is tanking something weaker than the real target, and require less resistance. For example, for Garuda HM you need an off-tank for the red linked one. For Caduceus you need two tanks.
Titan, warrior is superior. 30% DR on every MB on top of our HP is brokenly strong. PLD's don't have a CD for every single MB. WAR's have rampart for every single one without touching cooldowns.
Coil, its less than optimal to take PLD/PLD. Not sure why this is even a point of discussion.
Lastly, even mentioning HM garuda in this thread is pointless. Want to kill garuda? Hit level 50 and go duty finder it, just about any gear level can get carried through it even as a tank.
every 2 tank content now is better with pld+war, not only for debuffs but also for lb charging time. not to mention dps (war has always been superior in terms of dps)
Only played around with mine a little out and about. I'm missing the fact that Holmgang doesn't seem to bind and prevent the mob from turning anymore. Loved using that on Garuda and freezing her to the side after a Slipstream.

Threat is even less of an issue now to really maintain the BB combo but it feels rather silly to Maim and Maim 2 global CDs later. Seems like Path should have been changed to do less damage but trigger Storm's Eye for a combo instead.

I mentioned garuda to illustrate what's the meaning of Off tanking to me. Because I see no example of off tanking in end game raids, that was ... you know... my point... but you can't understand what I say it seems.
Again, I really wish WAR/PLD becomes the standard for end game, but I don't mistake my wishes for established facts.
