There's something a number of us would like to see return. While I do find that after a few months of playing just a couple of my jobs some of them have worked into being more or less muscle memory. It still feels extremely awkward, and the ordering/appearance of abilities don't map well into my head. Especially on jobs that have branching combos, like MNK and to a lesser extent WAR. I find that my WAR is actually more clunky and hard to play now than it was in 1.0, and MNK I actually have wrong buttons more often because to map to the controller the combos are kind of all over.

I do understand the other side of the argument though, where it will hamper peoples ability to be constantly on the move. I understand it, but I don't entirely agree with it. There is enough time during the GCD on even the fastest job for a person to cycle through 5+ bars of stuff.

    One potential solution:
Having L1/R1 move left/right through a bar, while L2/R2 cycles bars up/down your fingers never leave the analog sticks (aside from targeting). Having 3+ (player choice of 1,3,5 or 7) bars appear at once, like a wheel of sorts, where the center bar is the active one and the others are smaller/faded out. With them being 6~10 actions wide (6wide x 5high you can see the current CD/Proc state for 30 at once, no action is ever more than 5 presses away, on average my time for 5 button presses is under 1 second, far less than any GCD)

Solutions exist, release the add-on tools so we can start making these things real ^^

Definitely a cool idea. Would be nice to just have an alternative that helps people who aren't interested in the XHB but want a fulfilling controller experience.

add-on tools for the PS3 will never happen. the PS4 though is a whole other story. i don't own one. nor have i read much about it. but i would imagine Sony was able to figure out a way to allow modifications without compromising their security. Microsoft did it with the 360 and this is still true. you can buy a developers account for the 360. and while Sony's PS3 allowed modifications through OtherOS. it compromised security and Sony's network got hacked. it caused a lot of damage.

i THINK only firmware 3.43 or 3.41 and before support OtherOS. but without up-to-date firmware you can't play FFXIV:ARR anyhow.

Going back a fairly long way the dev team said that player made add-ons would be PC only. In the case of add-ons that become very widespread and have a high enough demand they will "officially" port the add-on into the game so that it will be available on the console versions. I don't expect to see any player add-on development package for consoles though.

I also imagine that the "officially" imported add-ons for PS3 will be significantly more limited than what eventually finds its way onto the PS4, hardware limitations and all that. Perhaps some of the add-ons for PC that exist in separate processes, like the current parsers, will get ported into second screen apps for the Vita as well. I think I'd like some of those, a gear manager add-on that could store both gear and action bar layouts, a remote inventory, I'm rambling now ...
