@t0rin Yea I understand that much and I guess I can see why some would think it's been dumbed down. I didn't find it challenging to begin with so it's just w/e for me. I just enjoy pet jobs, always have since FFXI. That game was soooooo tough that I guess that's why I feel so chill with this one.

Less about difficulty, more about simply having to put some thought into your actions. Proper use of Thunder required thought and planning, now it is just plain easy.

I feel your pain on that, I just hope this doesn't drive off good summoners, I don't want our class pushed off and abandoned

Garuda EM is highly mobile and yet I always find myself using Shadowflare because I know where the tanks are moving to and I know what I'm supposed to do.
No reason not to use shadowflare.

And no, this patch is not a huge nerf to SMN DPS. Its a tiny little dps loss that any competent player can scoff at.
    I'm still king of DPS.

Titan extreme: I can break 2 gaols when the black mage is in and sometimes we wipe when I'm in gaols.

The nerf hasn’t really bothered me that much. In pve, the changes aren’t too dramatic (either me or our monk is still top dps for non-ae encounters) and in pvp we’re awesome (it’s pretty rare that I’m not top dps). Pet controls do feel a bit clunkier now, but sch got the shorter end of the stick there and even then it’s not too bad.

Like people were saying before the patch went live, I’m less concerned about what they did rather than how they did it.

The only way you'd get that big of a loss of dps without thunder is if all you did was just put your dots up and then stood around doing absolutely nothing until they fell off, and didn't use any pets.

All of the summoner threads seem to be trailing off into the same argument. The fact is, end of the day it is a ~10% nerf. And as myself and many others have said repeatedly it was needed. I think the general consensus is that losing thunder has made the game play of the SMN easier. I am still curious what our actual rotation will end up being. Miasma II doesn't seem worth it to me. We will see when some of the theory crafters get some solid numbers.

On a single target, Miasma II when used with Contagion, is 40 potency better (on a full DoT duration) than a single Ruin, which is what you would logically do instead. If you are near whatever you are fighting, and are about to contagion, there is no reason not throw out a Miasma 2 instead of a Ruin. But, if you have more than 1.4 seconds of re-positioning to do in order to land a Miasma II, it becomes a DPS loss. Unless of course you do something like a Ruin II while re-positioning, then you're ok.

I am suffering from my muscle memory as well as from the lack of visual ques.

Had a Macro that went BioII, Bio, (pause can be used for various things), Miama, Fester, Thunder. After that I would switch to manual input. But somehow I keep waiting for the thunder animation, and just stand there idly for a moment before I remember it is gone, haha.

Still trying to find a way to incorporate BlizzardII in my rotation....
I use MiasmaII, but only because it is instant and I can immediately run off again. I'm too used to being a ranged DPS, and not really keen on spending more time in the fray (>.<)

Torin hit the nail on the head with Miasma 2+ contagion. Positioning in every run is key to maximizing our efficiency.

As far as the 10% nerf people are claiming ... I think it was not quite that harsh of a nerf. I have posted earlier in this thread the numbers I gained / lost based on "Ingame damage readings" not parsed numbers. With the loss of thunder and the gains to garuda we at the most lost 18 dps Using No CD what so ever. (no rouse/spur) with EPAss/FG buffs (with no rouse spur) came to approx 14 dps loss on a target dummy. In BC over past 2 days I have only seen about a loss of 4.5% dps loss single target over the pre patch. I even missed a perfect rouse/spur uptime by 3-4 seconds while under a EPAss and FG buff.
