    Update: After talking to customer support twice, I've discovered that all of my files in my game folder have been marked as Read Only. However they refuse to stay unchecked in that category. I'm not sure what to do about this problem now.

    Errors such as this are normally due to insufficient hdd space or possibly even UAC, try disabling UAC and see what happens?

    I'm in the same boat.

    Like many others I've:

    -Confirmed plenty of HDD space.
    - Disabled firewall
    - Disabled anti-virus
    - Deleted patch folder

    I've tried everything and am getting this same issue. I was never even in the beta to begin with and downloaded a release client about a month after release so I dunno where this beta crap is coming from. SE won't even seem to acknowledge that this is a problem. *HOW* can we even hope to fix this without their help at this point? I do not want to be forced to cancel my sub for this game but I will not continue to pay for a game that I cannot play.

    If you go to the support section of the Lodestone, there will be a button at the bottom that says "Contact Us!". They have an option to speak with support via e-mail or live chat. I did the live chat version both times. The wait wasn't very long, and the second agent I spoke to was helpful. However the SECOND that you mention you might have found the problem, they'll immediately try to get rid of you and just tell you to contact them again if you continue to have the problem. I'm nearing the end of my rope here, and may very well have to unsubscribe until they implement a fix for this.

    To everyone else, some more info that I learned.

    -This game is not very compatible with Windows 8, which is what I have. That may have a roll in this issue. (Sincerely regret getting this garbage OS. For the love of God, stick with Windows 7.)
    -My ISP (Time Warner) apparently has been a very problematic ISP with this game, and many people who have this have the problem that I have.
    -For some unknown reason, ALL my game files are read only. I never recalled making this so via the installation, so be sure to check that. If you have the abnormal case that I have, which they won't STAY as a non-Read Only file, then we're SoL.

    I'll try contacting customer support one more time after all this, probably tomorrow, and I will keep everyone updated in case a miracle happens. Since SE will probably never post here, I will act as a conduit for info for all you people with the same problem I have. I hope you all have a lot more luck getting this to work than I did.
