The loot lockout has nothing to do with whether you need or greed, or even if you did nothing. All it cares about is whether you've received a drop or not, even if it was auto dropped to you because everyone else passed and you didn't.

I called all this crap. I did one run the 1st day didn't lot on anything. 50 Myth Tomes at the end doesn't justify running this content over and over, After you get one piece of gear. So to all those people that said otherwise you were wrong. The run I did took over 100mins and I've been hearing a lot of my LS mates say the same pretty much. You have to get grouped with 23 or 16 people who know how to read. So trying to get one piece of gear you want will probably take a week of non-stop grinding and at an average of 90mins+ Good Luck.
Only thing we can hope for is enough people complain and they change loot to 1 piece per boss lockout. lol Crystal Tower.......

Lol your an idiot. Grind for BiS I agree. CT is not best in slot. It's vanity / alt gear. "Grinding" for that on a hardcore level is stupid. This isn't EQ. Go be nub somewhere else.I have been watching this thread and all I can say is... wow.
Have any of you played like... a hard MMO? Or a really grinds one? In fact, any MMO at all before wow?
Aslso to the people asking "why should I run CT after my drop". Ummm because it's new content? You can run the new shit or hey have fun running the same 2 dungeons again and start bitching about lack of content, again.
So many people cry over nothing. Learn to deal with it you gear slobs, cause it's not changing.

No.
It would've been simple to just make it the same loot system as coil with a week lockout on drops. Didn't get anything? Oh well. This is where the "You should be playing for fun!" arguments fall apart, because that was the only change needed in those strict terms. Making CT give out 1 item guaranteed every week just takes the game a step closer to the mechanical grind that WoW turned into for the worse. Everything will take you X time, no more and no less. Look forward to running something for almost year to get vanity gear!
Meanwhile the armoury system issue gets sidestepped some more.
Here is the thing though. If they made it so you could no-limit farm CT then it would just end up like darklight gear. Darklight gear would be essentially worthless, you could just farm CT for i80 and skip the DL tier altogether... this would also include the crafted gear, which is probably becoming impossible to sell now even though they have reduced the price drastically on a lot of items.
It would end up to the point where if you didn't have full i80 (at least on the left) then you are essentially irrelevant. Do you guys really want this game to turn into "Relic Zenith and full i80+ required" for ALL content? This means you would have to farm CT constantly, until you hated it and the game altogether, to grind out full i80 left depending on your luck with the drops.
Personally, as someone who would love to have their dragoon full i80 tomorrow, I am completely content with this system the way it is. i70, i80, and i90 gear all has a place in the game.
Now... all of the gear rotting? I agree that is a bummer. It would be nice if they could do something about that... maybe a system where it says "Oh, we noticed no one wanted this piece of gear, here is 4k gil per person instead!". That way you don't feel like it was just a waste of time.

^This, I want this for coil too T_T

If that's true, what is the point of AF+1 gear? Allagan renders that stuff useless. While Darklight gear is obtainable for doing a huge amount of things with no limits. Darklight gear would still be valuable as entry level end game armor. While CT requires a lot of effort, and isn't likely to be as popular a gearing up method.
What we have now, renders CT completely useless. The entry level raid...worthless. So how is what we have no so much better? How is watching gear that the party worked hard for, delete itself simply to make progress more arduous, a good thing? every other mmo has been able to figure this out, why can't Square-Enix?
AF+1 is i90 and in many cases better optimized in stats vs. allagan. CT gear is i80 and clearly better than darklight for every piece on every class. So I don't know where that analogy is coming from. Also, you cannot no limit farm coil.If that's true, what is the point of AF+1 gear? Allagan renders that stuff useless. Also, CT is not worthless in the least. My static's WHM has been raiding coil with us for 5-6 weeks now and only has 3-4 pieces of i90 gear. Plenty of slots he could upgrade to i80 while he waits for Allagan BiS or could start farming for his BLM alt.

I love how people always say "Haven't you played wow, it's like that in other MMO's"
We are not playing wow here, for good reason imo. This isn't wow, it should stop trying to be. Wow sucks, horrible game. Just because other mmo's do it doesn't make it right for this one to do it. If I were to expect innovation from somewhere, I would expect it from SE/Japan, but no, same old cookie cutter "lets be like wow" attitude.
There was a time when I played wow, and everytime I played it I was thinking "Why am I doing this, I'm not having fun, I just want the BIS Trinket even though I'm not enjoying myself" and I realized I was playing the game to have the best gear and for nothing else.
Problem is I'm close to the same mentality in FFXIV. Most people don't run anything once they get the gear.
"E.g. we had a BLM, crazy good DPS, get's his last piece of Gear and he's gone, didn't log on for weeks."
And that's why CT has a loot lockout. That was SE's solution to the above problem.
But SE, that doesn't make it a good solution. Why don't you guys think outside the box and give people incentive to run CT and BCB outside of getting gear. Then you can remove the lockout because it won't matter if people have all the gear, people will still run the content.
Some ideas,
-Add dailies for Crystal Tower for each boss
-Get rid of RNG, make all the gear token based (like myth) add alagan tomes and crystal tomes
-Drop more gil from trash in CT/BCB and drop items for HIGH level crafting that drop no where else.
-Add Bonus Objectives to every fight in dungeons,
--Use a 100% unique party makeup
--Kill the boss in less than X minutes
--Kill all 3 dreadnaughts Last
-Add rewards for doing content and meeting the objectives, GC seals, Gil, Crafting Items, Materia, etc etc etc.

Does only certain pieces drop from each chest boss? If so are players leaving once they open the chest and find/don't find what they want?
