Problem with that example is that even with a small percentage chance of getting something you still have that chance in a week you could get three items or none. But there is always a chance.
My favorite part of the community is the following:
1. I can get 1 loot and then nothing more in a week? Then I won't do it.
2. There is a 0.1% chance I can get loot? Ok, I'll go do the dungeon 24/7 because I love loot!
In other words, people are willing to redo dungeons for no reward at all, as long as they think there is a slim chance at winning a jackpot bonus reward. SE should simply abuse this fact and say that you have 1% chance to be allowed to lot on loot after your first won loot. That way people would redo the dungeon over and over because they have a fraction of a chance to get 2 or 3 drops a week. Most wouldn't get any more, but they'd redo the dungeon some 20 times or more and help others just because of their own delusions of chance.

Lockout need rolls... who cares about greed rolls? Greed it up for alts, who the heck cares? Isn't that the point of the armory system??

well then you'll just go into a group with friends and they'll pass stuff you actually need so you can greed on it instead. And the "greed for alts" system would be bad because those whole thing is for alts. this would be a non-issue at all if they werent passing out ilvl90 gear like skittles. We have people in full i90 thats never stepped for in coil, for that crowd, CT would be relevant content for them to upgrade and better prepare them for coil.. BUT since everyone already has i90 then its just stupid.

The problem isn't the fact that loot is restricted. It's the fact that it's restricted to ONE item a week. That is extremely harsh considering there are multiple bosses. SE needs to find a balance and 1 item a week from an instance isn't it. Getting to do a dungeon 1 time a week isn't it either...there has to be a middle ground.

you would not be saying that if you finished everything the game has to offer in 2 weeks and you have to sit with your thumb in a warm place for 3 months until 2 more weeks worth of content came out.
not trying to white knight, because im not sure i like the game myself for my own reasons... but name me one game that launched (post race to max level era) with enough content to sustain everyone unrestricted for months.

I take content slow, so I don't have that issue. Besides, if I run out of things to do, I take a break and play something else until more content comes out.

plenty of people said that they would find a loot lockout acceptable if they could continue to run the dungeon if they felt like it. The only issue here is that giving out myth tokens in WP advanced everyone to the point where CT just isnt worth the week wait.

and once again, Square-Enix displays an absolutely mind boggling lack of understanding the mmorpg concept, by placing asinine limitations on progress.
I keep trying to come up with any word to describe YoshiP's design mentality, other than "joyless", but I can't. He is the epitome of joyless, mechanical design. A man who refuses to acknowledge how far mmorpgs have progressed, in the last two decades, and instead creates games meant to prolong progress to its breaking point.
Its like he has zero concern over making this game fun, and more mechanical means to stretching out subscription times.
I can not, now ever will, understand the mentality of designing a dungeon, in which loot is passed on out of fear, and completely wasted if no one rolls. All that work for nothing, and it isn't even the end game raid. Nothing will demoralize players quite like having perfectly good loot dangled in front of them only to watch it burn.
Yoshi seems to think that kind of gaming is acceptable, but it isn't. Its cold, cynical, and cruel.
He did it with housing, he did it with vanity gear, and he did it with CT.

I'm not reading all of the other posts.
Your answer, is already in your original post.
The incentive to keep running, is to help out FC members / each other. If we form Parties / alliances before queing, we all keep running until people get the gear that they are actually looking for. For example, I'm WAR main, and have PLD50. I have Myth head/body on WAR, but I'll be running CT for the iLevel 80 gear drops to use on my PLD. If there aren't any DRG's in my party, I'll be OK with taking a DRG drop, as that is going to be my next class at 50. If I only et 1 drop/week, I'm OK with that, I'll keep running so that I can help out FC members.
I also fully intend on watching any/all cutscenes in the Labrynth. Y'all can cuss at me if you want to!

However, I am willing to give the developers time to absorb the feedback, and possibly change things. I have a month of time left so I'll give my feedback and wait. Frankly as angry as housing made me, and this CT business, I've been enjoying the other stuff so far.
If I don't like the way the game is progressing, I'll simply leave. Check back later. If I do, I'll stick around.
For the most part, I do really like this game, and hope they take the community's response to heart.
