    Why the BLM nerf?

    I dont understand why they nerfed BLM so much.
    Feels like I have no AOE at this point. Blizzard II is too weak at 50 pot, Fire II is too slow and burns MP too fast and isnt even that strong for the MP cost, Freeze is even slower...
    At least with the fast cast exploit I could mix it up and get some extra damage in on the main target while keeping MP up, but now i don't have that either.
    I really don't see what was so wrong with being able to do double fire spells at half cast time. I could see if maybe BLM's dps was the highest, but these nerfs made no sense to me.
    Blizzard II is too weak for pretty much any class to use and no one needs it, it just eats up MP for crap damage.

    Thoughts, workarounds, opinions?

    All I can say is they jumped on the NERFWAGON and went to TOWN, well cept for MNK they hella luv those guys lol I am not sure why, I mean maybe to balance for PvP if that is the case however I am NOT into PvP never have been. If you are that is great but nerfing PvE potential so that PvP is fair if that is indeed the case is stupid. Either way I am sure it will be fine in the end.

    Yes, they seriously screwed up the MP/Tic rate. I can cast B3 > B2 > F3, and still only end up with 1 tic. Two ice spells, 1 fire cast time, and still only getting 1 tic.

    This needs to me fixed asap!

    They should have just made flare have the same properties as fire 1 in regards to af stacking. That would have made it a complete waste to use double flare if the first was an UI3 version and the next was no AF at all. Flare granting you AF3 was what made it worth doing. If they had just changed that, then they could have left us with our awesome double dipping bug but gotten rid of the use of double flare. I thought I would like the new freeze in place of I2, but after some experimenting, I'm not really digging it. As a ps3 player, it forces me to hold the camera in positions I don't like for manual aiming. And it takes much longer coupled with the added cast time. It just feels like I can't do any damage. :/ Really hoping a solid aoe rotation sprouts.

    As far as single target, I'm thinking of swapping out T2 for T3 just to ensure full mana before starting my burn phase, but pretty sure that is a dps loss. At least it opens a spot on my cross hotbar where T2 used to be.

    And you are forgetting the most IMPORTANT part. One that is not so obvious if you do not look closely. That they made Umbral end when you cast a Fire spell instand of when it lands. This might not sound like a big deal to someone who do not play BLM, but it really is. Not only because it takes away double flare, but because it severely messes up our rotation. If I do not wait like 0.3 sec after a thunder 2 I might not get fully charged and sometimes it starts to charge directly in a way that feels very random and awkward. It makes it impossible to predict what to do to keep rotation 100% optimal.

    I don't mind the fix of double dipping.
    I don't mind the fix of double flare.

    I mind that MP regen with Umbral is completely screwed. You cannot predict its behaviour.
    Sometimes casting T2+F3 is enough to get all your MP back, but most of the time it is not enough.
    It looks very awkward and it is impossible to have a rotation with such a random factor that you cannot predict.
    This change was not needed and made the BLM job very hazardous to play.

    We had enough random factors to deal with, with Firestarter and Thundercloud.

    Actually it appears worse than that, UI ends a moment or two before the cast finishes, so it's very possible that if you have to move mid cast you'll end up with no stacks at all.

    My thoughts exactly! I was either expecting, or accepting, every change that came our way. But this is completely out of hand and unacceptable.

    The core foundation of the problem, is that Umbral Ice 3 drops off our buff bar before Fire 3 is cast, before we spend the mp, before the animation start, and before dmg happens. We loose our buff before we actually do anything to lose it.
