Copperbell Mines HM Basic Tank Overview SPOILERS

Same as the Haukke Manor one I posted - this will give a quick overview of what I saw on the boss mechanics, my goal is to be succinct and maybe a little vague : D It was fun solving on the problems on the first go through : D

Disclaimer - I get detailed on the last boss, if you want to figure it out on your own, don't read any of this.

First off, these were some of the most fun boss fights in any dungeon so far : D

Boss1 - Some Giant Jerk who Casts Blizzard

Basic Mechanics - This is kind of a short guantlet with a dps check, and an awareness check. You will have to move along a narrow wooden bridge, as the boss will make certain areas of the bridge unavailable to you (: D) at certain intervals. There are adds to pick up along the way that you can see, and some that you can't.

Basic Strategy - Don't stand in the fire, AE Enmity is going to be key. Be very very vigilant for bombs as they spawn. The biggest key for me was keeping my group moving along the bridge, if you slow down too much, you can get caught in some nasty stuff!

Tip: Fire + Bomb = Everyone is dead. : D

    Boss2 - Mecha-Spriggan

Basic Mechanics - LOL! Its a Gundam Spriggan! You need to get rid of this little guy's rock armor by putting bombs on the ground that he will walk in. To spawn a bomb (which will have a 10 second fuse) you need to activate the device, and you will get a nasty surprise with each bomb you are given! After you get rid of his suit, you need to dps the little feller down the rest of the way while avoid LARGE bombs.

Basic Strategy - There is not much to do as a tank, the boss seems to walk around the room doing its own thing, doing line AEs on people as it feels - I always kept myself as #1 on the enmity list, but I also bullied my way into dropping a few bombs on him! I think you may be able to avoid the bomb mechanic, but its super fun! lol

Tip: Have fun, I'm sure there is a way to break this and speed run it, but this is a really gimmicky-fun fight!

Boss3 - The Biggest Jerk You Ever did See!!

Basic Mechanics - This is NOT an easy fight, and I am going to give a little more in depth finding on this one because of the trouble we had, I am going to bullet point the mechanics, then give a step by step of how we killed him.

    - He does decent damage, and a knockback circle AE which will really mess with you if you don't avoid it - luckily the cast time is pretty long.
    - He will summon a giant worm that circles around the large sand pit for the remainder of the fight, if you stand in a sand pillar, it will do roughly 750-1000 dmg to you, usually twice in rapid succession.
    - The worm is hungry, and he will get PISSED if you don't feed him. His favorite food is rocks. When the game tells you that he is looking for food, have a DPS pick up a rock and drop it near the sand for him to eat. If you fail to do this in a timely manner, the worm will suck you all into the middle, doing about 1600-2000 dmg to everyone.
    - He will do a move called Power Strike which will target a random party member and do a wide AE with a pretty quick cast time.
    - Adds will spawn throughout, stuck on a random party member (it was ALWAYS the dps for me), near the end, two spawn at once.

Basic Strategy - Here is what I did, I will describe it as positioning and steps.

Tank Positioning: Pull him OFF of the sand, right at the entrance, to start. This will totally negate the sand worm hitting anyone as it tracks around.
DPS Positioning: Out of the sand; if you have ranged, they should be standing next to the one of the Crystallized Rocks, if not, you should have the boss sitting next to one of the rocks or close to one of the rocks.
Healer Positioning: Out of the sand, not near the dps.

    1) Bring the boss near the rock near the entrance, and orient yourself so that the room is the clock, you are starting at 6 o' clock, dps until he calls for his worm, and then until the worm is looking for food. Have your most mobile dps pick up a rock, and put it down near the sand, then clear away from that area. The worm will eat it and go YUM!

    2) Once a rock is eaten, start to dps again, and move the boss clockwise around the outside of the sandpit, if the next rock is at 8 o' clock, have the boss at 9 o' clock and have your DPS near the rock, you should be further along on the clock face than you dps to avoid disorientation. Repeat the latter portion of step 1

    3) At this point, an add should spawn, and you should be tanking the boss RIGHT next to it. Yes, I do have a plan! The mob will spawn and stand there like a moron for a second - run over there and STUN IT! These adds are stunable, and it will circumvent your dps having to kite or get wailed on for a second (or 8!). Any time there are adds from here on out, your dps should kite them past you so you can try to stun them to help them out, if not, just have the dps switch to the adds.

    4) Keep moving around the clock face with the boss around the perimeter, make sure your DPS are positioned to get to a rock and feed the worm quickly after the message, you don't want to get sucked into the middle. You should end up moving around right back to 6 o' clock, where you will burn him down.

Special note: If you try to DPS burn, I THINK you are going to run into an HP lock. It seems that the worm must be fed in order to damage him past a certain % of health. I also have a suspicion that if the rock is too close to the boss when the worm eats it, he gets healed. I kept seeing a green line come from the rock to somewhere, I couldn't tell if it was a party member, the worm, or the boss.

    Hope this helps!

The key to Boss 2 and 3 is stun. You can stun the fire elementals that spawn and interrupt their flare casting which should keep you plenty busy and give you something meaningful to do since as you mentioned, the golem ignores aggro for the most part.

Same with the last boss. I would recommend pulling the boss near where the adds spawn out of. You can turn around and keep them stun locked as mentioned for 10 seconds which should be plenty of time for you and a well equipped DD to burn them down before they even have a chance to run after their target.

Nice little write up. I have a few suggestions.

For Boss 1, while the bombs will self destruct and need to be burned, they can be stunned on their path. I wouldn't really suggest you to do this as a tank, but a melee DD can be made aware of it to get some extra time of DPS on them.

For Boss 2, as mentioned, there isn't aggroe table. I'd suggest the tank handling/spawning the bombs. While the boss seems to move around in erratic patterns, if you are unsure of where to place the bomb, the tank can easily just eat the damage while holding it. This guarantees the bomb hits, and doesn't put the DD in danger of death from bad timing.

For Boss 3, we just kept the boss literally in the middle. Melee DD stays on boss, one ranged DD just fights boss on a rock until the worm needs to be fed. It was pretty tank and spank with that method. We tried moving the boss around but the melee DD takes a lot of unnecessary damage often times, since it is hard to see the worm which will take a good chunk off the DD if hit. I'd be cautious in telling DD to run by you, I'm pretty positive he cleaves, and that mixed in with the add focusing on the DD will be enough for a KO pretty quick. If the DD can do it safely its a nice suggestion though.

Thanks for the input! For boss 1 and 2 I agree, but I wanted to leave some unknowns for people that just wanted a quick basic overview. Very good idea about the tank handling the bombs though.

On boss 3, I think maybe our DPS was undergeared, we had 2 bards and one was rocking mostly i55 stuff. We were about to use the clock rot mostly because we had 2 ranged DPS. Your suggestion about the middle is great until the Power Strikes start and potentially force a healer into a sand pillar, but its certainly easier and more flexible up until that point. I think both ways have their merits with different group set-ups, which is one of the markings a well-designed boss fight!
