Impressive, Siobu. Your medal count clearly do not do you enough credit. I thoroughly enjoyed reading through all 38 pages of this thread, and I am convinced that you are quite right. And I believe that any member of the Community or Development Team that reads through this thread will also be convinced that solving this problem, and specifically implementing the solutions suggested here will bring a new excitement to FFXIV that it is been missing since Closed Beta. It will also help address the issues of party dynamics, lack of world exploration, and general boredom currently present.

It would be very wise for the Development Team to work on this as soon as they have finished work on Battle Adjustments and Core Programming.

Wynn, thanks for your thoughts! I am definitely behind you.

Zanfire, we're definitely an elephant in a room, I believe. Hopefully we've not gone unnoticed. I know how hard it is to keep such a topic like this going for so long, especially when there's no arguing, disagreements, or debates taking place.

Sorel, thank you so much! I'm glad to have people daring enough to trek through such a long thread.

When writing a novel, or an essay, the first sentence is always the hardest! But after that, the ball doesn't stop rolling.

I strongly believe that if the world of Eorzea can be addressed, everything else will flow together naturally. Eorzea will flourish.

just tossing some more stuff in here (keeping the thread going) i hope they add in plenty more "land marks". In this game if someone asks how to get to somewhere, well its not as easy to explain. I remember in FFXI i memorized half the zones layout and could explain things because there were plenty of things to say "well go past that {insert landmark or NM spawn area here}"

That also brings me to the point of NM placement. In FFXI, many of the NMs, big and small were pretty well placed. Some mixed in with their own kind, others in hard to reach areas, others just plain old clever ( Spook popped in the middle of KRT near the grave and only at night...i hunted that sucker for days on end XD ) You would also go purpously look in the nooks and cranys of zones thinking "well they wouldnt make that totaly empty, maybe there is an Nm or something up there".

Most NMs and HNMs never felt like they were just tossed in for the sake of it (though later more and more did) The first NM i saw in 14 was a plant that was on the top of a tunnel entrance, right were my rank 18~ level was...i had a hard time getting to it because it was placed there. It didnt feel like the oldschool "in your way to block you from advancing through a zone or area" it felt like it was just tossed somewhere. I havent seen many, but right now, with the mix of the poorly made world and layout, it makes it feel badly placed.

Finally the monsters sometimes were placed in a way to scare you or make you think different..EX:

1)Dunes, the thin tunnel from the bottem to the main upper part had some agroing bats in it, making you wait for a high level to help you (sort of promoted people helping one another) waiting for your group so you could take them out, or running for dear life to make it to a zone line (lolz)

    2) Quifm....every low level quickly learns the lessons of that zone....NIGHT TIME = DEATH. You had to stay at the edges or try and slink your way through. We even had the famous "get in the middle of the pond on the ice" bit so you could avoid ghost mobs at night. (lolz again)

Somehow I couldn't login to the official forum. Always got an error message during login. Can someone post the image into "One to Fifty, One Zone - Long OP" @official forum.. thank you.
Found this by chance. Thanks for your support and your ideas! Beautiful effort.

The only thing i dont think is here is that the 3 citys should gather to the city, then the city (going up) should be the higher zone, making the players gather at the central city before they venture forth to a harder zone. Id rather keep the upper end zones away from where a lower end could wonder, or could wreck a mid level if he just wants to hit up the main city.

also the darkness and music of mor-doh (along with the dragon there) give a feeling of "this is some serious sh*t" so keep it the furthest from "starter zone safety"

Yes, I definitely understand what you mean and do agree with you in regards to Mor Dhona's importance.

All of the images posted thus far have done well to trigger conversation, and hopefully this piece will do the same!

    (Edit: Thanks, Kiara!)

Other then that bit i like what you have there. Id like to see (if you can do it) make a more detailed layout of what you might think the world would be overall (like where everything is placed on the orginal map or your own design). i would be intresting to see what your or even anyone else could come up with (at this point most people could come up with a better layout then what we have >_>; )
