I know that for myself and many others there was a lot of disappointment in this patch. I won't deny that and I won't defend my opinions on the situation either. That's not what this thread is for.
This thread is to say, "Thank you, Square-Enix and Yoshi-P, for working so damn hard on this patch."
I felt the response that the patch was delayed due to fixing server and log in issues was extremely valid but the delay aside...
Will saying this make housing cheaper? No.
Will saying this make PvP more balanced? No.
Will saying this make FATEs spawn more? No.
And so on.
But Square-Enix, I have no doubt, did work hard to bring us a lot of things this patch. A lot of fledgling ideas just beginning to grow in game. It breaths a bit of life into the game, no matter how brief. Everything that I have experienced so far feels thorough, solid, tested, and mostly polished for what it is. There are hiccups here and there but nonetheless. Even if it's a company, even if in the end it's all about sales, I feel rather pampered in this MMO. It's a far cry from my last one, to be sure.
So, really what I mean to say is, just because I've been upset over a lot of the decisions that have been made, I'm still grateful. I don't want to white knight SE or suck up... I just don't want to discourage them, I suppose. The enthusiasm with which they advertised the patch makes me feel like the staff was really pumped due to the hype at launch. I want them to keep being pumped. I want them to be excited to work on these projects for us.
So that's all I wanted to say. Just a simple, "Thank you." You don't have to be grateful--no one has to--but I am. And I just wanted to share that.
Edit: I want to add as a quick aside, I don't mind if others are upset or want to vent their frustrations here. You have ever right to feel the way you do. Nor do I consider anyone upset to be ungrateful. My post here was just my thoughts and opinions and I don't hold the stance that they are in any way superior to anyone else's.
