Square enix get rid of FATES.

Square Enix I realy wonder what is going through your minds when you make things. This FATE system yall came up with is horrible absolutely horrible. There are no benefits to it. Yall said at one point it was so everyone would have a chance of getting things from it. Well when everyone is doing the same FATES it either dies in 5 seconds and you don't get anything or you cant see the mobs and you don't get anything. Behemoth and Odin are the biggest jokes you force every player to go to these locations to be able to hope to kill them and half the time you cant attack. Yall also said that you think once people get the gear from them that they will stop showing up will at this rate it will take forever. Having them in the game is great but you need a different method of letting us fight them. Make us farm materials and be able to pop them like in FFXI or make them in a dungeon. It would be alot more fun if we could fight them in an organized party it would be more chalenging and more fun.

This game IS THE FATE system. I dont have time to fully explain you what i meant with that, but just think about the muti-class system and a new (and a bit funnier) way of "grinding". I dont understand why you play FFXVI if you dont like FATES. I understant people complaining about some stuff, its something logic, the game is not perfect (and, actually, nothing in this life is... unless you belive in God... uuhm... yeah)
Its like playing WoW if you dont like the factions system. Derp.

Because the OP is another FFXI fan and just wants the game to be like FFXI 'old style'. As Alphoter5 said, the FATE system is a major part of ARR's gameplay, it can't just be 'scrapped' because the whole game would have to be modified accordingly.

The trouble with FATEs are is that they are endemic of FFXIV's overwhelming success - because there's just so many players, naturally there's more players actually participating in FATEs than what SE originally intended for, thus it's just a shortcoming in design. But there are plenty of FATEs which no one bothers with so really, you don't have to do the handful most players over-rely on - just go out and explore and you should find one or two that give decent rewards and are not over camped.

I have been playing this game since beta in 1.0 FATES do not make this game what it is not even close. That is one way of leveling and IMO a pretty shitty way. 1.0 did not have fates 1.0 was great. We had open world bosses that you could actually kill because it was your party fighting it not the whole server. Looking at your profiles yall don't look to experienced with the game just saying, and god does no exsist.

Throwing the baby out with the bathwater. There are better ways to address this.

Let me remember something really important to you: 1.0 was complete and transcendental crap, a total shame for Square Enix and a cause for ridicule in all the gamer community. Now 2.0 broke all odds of success and is an AMAZING experience that lots and lots of people are enjoying ... and you say we should go back to how 1.0 was..................... ok.

What do you mean 1.0 was crap... Surely if it was crap they wouldn't have rebuilt the game from the ground up... /end sarcasm

"We had open world bosses that you could actually kill because it was your party fighting it not the whole server"... Perhaps i'm ignorant but this seems like a fate to me... As per the other 2 comments, If you have been playing this game since beta you have experience with the game and because we didn't play with 1.0 (which was tanked because it sucked) means that we cant compare it, and im glad for that because good games don't get cancelled... God doesn't exist, not saying i believe in jesus but i sure as hell believe there's something bigger than me in this universe...

The fate system is not good. It is incredibly watered down experiences that have been relegated to nothing more than experience point piñatas. The scope that SE thinks they've accomplished with this system is just not visible in its current iteration. That being said, I don't see them abandoning the system. To that end I'd much rather see them take the time to really allow for a meaningful experience via fates. That being said I'd love to see the fate system supplemented with other systems that correlate with fate. For example; allow the behemoth horns from behemoth be used to purchase an item that allows a group or an alliance to fight an instanced version of behemoth balanced around the group size. That would allow for a memorable encounter that would require actual strategy and team work to win. And it would allow for meaningful items to be rewarded for this content, rather than thoroughly useless novelty items rewarded for a vapid shallow battle experience.

The fate system has potential, but it is nowhere near living up to that potential right now.

Sorry for the wall of text. Posting from my phone.

Because it is completely unheard of for someone to like something you think is trash. Wait... isn't that what Spartacus_Owen is saying about FATEs and you're saying the opposite?

In the later stages of 1.0 the game was actually really good, odd and slow UI aside. It was deemed a failure for the launch at 1.0, not for its ending before being taken down for a remake (which they only did because they had such a poor launch, if it had launched how it was just before 1.0 ended, it'd have been met with less criticism).

There were some HNMs in XI that needed alliances to beat. They weren't FATEs that anyone could attack. Once your alliance had claim on the monster, no one outside your party could attack it. Imagine Odin but with only 8-12 people able to attack him if they were grouped together. Everyone else could just stand around and watch.
