It's SE's intent to "protect" players from harassment (hate tells, general douchebaggery) before/after a match. For better or for worse, it it what it is. I guess this way no one sees "Godmode team" and instanstly gives up.
Error 3102 Survivor

/ac "Standard Synthesis" <Fresh Meat>

I thought Yoshi-P said something in the live letter about how you'd be able to see their names in the Battle Log.
I know what their intent is. I disagree with them on the idea that it's necessary. It's as silly as their reasoning for /doze only being available for beds in FC houses (oh no, people might make ~inappropriate~ screenshots) and disabling tells in instances.

I personally like the Fresh Meat names. It adds another layer of difficulty to the encounter. I know in other games with an arena style pvp, you eventually get into a tier where you only play with only a few other people that are equally ranked. If you play against the same people enough, you learn their strategy and that reduces the challenge. "Oh it's John Doe again, he always pops his CDs prematurely so engage him and then run away immediately" or "That whm focuses too much on DDing, he is an easy target." I realize that learning their tactics is a skill in and of itself, but not being able to memorize other groups' strategies is also more challenging in the long run, in my opinion.
My previous MMO displayed names and it was terrible, really. "Oh we're fighting so-and-so? Drop party now, we'll just lose!" It killed morale. Rather than focusing on winning your own battle, it also became a way to stroke epeen. Certain people became known as really good and everyone spent too much time circlejerking each other and talking smack. I much prefer anonymity.
Just a reminder, this thread is not about replacing Fresh Meat.
It's about having some sort of indication on who I am fighting against, class wise.

I'd like the anonyminity to be a choice. Not forced. If some people want to curb smack talk and play in secrecy, give them the option...
But damn Square-Enix is all about not giving people a freaking choice in these matters. -.-
