From what I can gather the Boarskin and Peisteskin maps can only be gotten through fishing... is this correct or am i missing something?

Patch notes say

Timeworn Boarskin Map: Level 50 mature trees, lush vegetation patches, mineral deposits, rocky outcrops, and fishing holes (Reaver Hide and the Tangle only)
Timeworn Peisteskin Map: Level 50 mature trees, lush vegetation patches, mineral deposits, rocky outcrops, and fishing holes (Lake Tahtotl, Parata's Peace, and the North Shards only).

and I can't seem to find any mining / logging nodes in these areas.

can anyone shed some light on this?

It's SE's bad wording at play again. The areas in parentheses are only the fishing places. The nodes are your normal lvl 50 nodes listed in the gathering log i.e. south thanalan for btn etc. etc.

Edit: has anyone figured out whether there is a large discrepancy between Boarskin and Pesteskin map reward loot tables?

I would love it to be harder as well as better rewarded due to difficulty.

Adding a NM or HNM as a boss will be a good fight,
or we get teled to a randomize mini instance where there are some puzzles/mobs in there.

Propose to add some blueprints for unique stuff which can only be crafted X times and the blueprint go poof!
( Ppl who played eve online should know :P )

I really liked the idea of treasure-hunts, but I've got to say, I'm a bit underwhelmed by the execution.
The 18-hour restriction is annoying as these things go fairly quickly, so they can never be anything more than a minor distraction.

More than that though, it's the 'Find treasure'->Kill Mobs->Profit (Or die and get nothing for 18 hours) sort of set-up. Really would have liked the 'hunting' part to be more pronounced, and rather than having mobs guarding the treasure, it'd be fun to have some sort of minigames you have to complete to get the prize. :-(

Still probably one of the better parts of the update though. :-\

I did a Boarskin map last night and I got some eagle feathers, some garbage crafting items, some gil and an athereal cobalt celata.

Just did one of my own and helped somebody with theirs. Both peisteskin maps. Three people in party.

First reward:
Free-fall: 250 Ice shards, 5 HQ Astral rocks, 5 HQ Spruce logs, 4 Sprigs of HQ thavnairian mistletoe
Gil reward: 1692 gil
Tomestone Reward: NONE
Loot-table reward: 1 Chinchilla Hide

Second reward:
Free-fall: 200 Ice shards, 1 HQ Astral rock, 2 Spindles of HQ Twinthread, 2 Sprigs of HQ Thavnairian mistletoe
Gil: 1692
Tomestone reward: NONE
Loot-pool: 1 Frosted glass lens

Keep in mind I was capped mythology from running CT forever to get my piece of gear, so there probably was a mythology tomestone reward but I could not obtain it.

On shiva the lvl 50 maps sell for 23k on auction house, does anyone understand how it could possibly be useful to buy such maps for 23k when the rewards will never get anywhere near that gil amount? Or are there special drops which are very rare but people hope on getting them?
