    Overpower & Flash animations

    • Motions and effects have been changed for the following:
      • Player Actions
        Overpower / Holmgang / Shadow Flare / Jump / Spineshatter Dive / Dragonfire Dive / Flash / Holy
    Overpower is much faster. I was using it in a FATE, so I didn't catch all the subtleties, but I think the wind-up has been removed completely. It's just the hit now, and it happens almost immediately. Has anybody seen what's different with Flash?

    Ah man, I liked the wind up. Made it look like he actually causing all that force. Sure I'll get over it though sooner then later

    well, like it or not, but without a doubt like this is finally more usefull in case you have to take adds quickly without using flash, even with caduceus this version will come in handy

    the increased speed is very nice.
    I feel like the stun move is faster too. not sure if it actually is or I'm just imagining it.

    Cearka, Brutal Swing was not changed. You're probably just imagining it since it's up much faster now and you can use it more often. But ya I love the new animation for overpower.

    Oh btw, it seems that with flash they have just changed the color of the animation, it's not white anymore, but goldlike

    :/ i liked the overpower windup.. ive never once felt like overpower was too slow, the targets in range are determined at the time you push the button. you can hit overpower and turn around immediately and the correct targets would still be hit. I kinda feel like removing all cool animations is taking a huge step back. We'll never have any interesting animations if they need to be complete in less than a second.
    it'll be like hyaa! mega swing!..... hyaaa super mega swing! (still just a swing, but this time the there are SPARKLES!)
    Anyone that played ffxi will remember how sad it was to have 5 or 6 weaponskills with the exact same short animation but a different particle effect. But then also remember how awesome it was to get a long effect like blade:ku

    Make it like ffxi where the damage and status is calculated when the button is pressed and let the animations play. That way a long animation wont hinder stuff like stun.

    They did this with Archer unfortunately early in the beta, now their upper body moves but the legs are lifeless so they can fix the sliding issue some had a problem with. I personally hated the change enough to never want to play the job again. I loved some of the attacks where I got on a knee down low to fire a shot, or did a cool jump. Now it just looks like your upperbody just spazzes around.

    I hate seeing cool animations go but at least they didn't touch the other cool attacks they have like they did with the poor archer.

    I have mixed feelings about overpower. I think they found a nice middle ground with coolness and effectiveness with overpower. Still semi-flashy. Bards animations were destroyed!!! I SAY LET EM SLIDE! all the other melee slide all day!
