Vintage Jester's Cap Conumdrum

There's been alot of Confusion / Speculation (incl. Fake "Facts") about this cap on
how to get it and how to craft it.

I've been searching since late 2010, until Feb 2011 when i finally obtained it
from a r40 faction leve called: Wanted: Toadsquatter Femomo.

The Vintage jester's Cap have also been found as a reward in: Diamonds in the Rough leve.

And yet... people are still saying it's in "Fact" crafted from "Molder Jester's Cap".

Now... i already know one way to obtain it (as i wrote abit above via the r40 leves)
But some people still claim it can be crafted (but there's no recipe for it yet)
in that case how is this a fact that it "Can Be" crafted if there's no or ever was a recipe for it?

There's also been posts about people seeing some "Vintage Jester Caps +2" around.

Now i'd like an official response to these so called "Facts".

Is it crafted by using the "Moldering Jester's Cap" or not?
Or is it only obtainable through random r40 faction leves?

If the recipe did exist we would of got it through a local leve reward by now. I think they just forgot it. Why is this one item that has a version that should be able to be upgraded that can't be upgraded. The flavor text of the vintage cap would imply to me the moldering cap would be the logical cap you would restore to it's former glory. Are there any other items that have this exception? Having a weaker items that cant be upgraded to the better one?

Hm yes,i agree with you Nate, it seems most likey it got "forgotten" since the
"FFXIV Development Team" changes.

Alot of things got put on hold, changed & prioritised.

Just seem rather odd that people actually claims they've seen a +2 version, actually having the recipe etc.
I guess im just fed up with bullshit comments on various fansites when they dont even have any proof.

The only "Fact" i see is that the recipe dont exist at all, it might have been put on hold, but that's it.
Unless some Community Rep or an actual developer comes forth with actual fact's regarding this.

Seems like you answered your own question thoroughly. People claim to see HQs just to troll the community.

If it looks like a bird, flies like a bird, and chirps like a bird...it's not a camel, it's a bird. You have overwhelming evidence that the recipe simply does not exist in the game yet, and absolutely no evidence to the contrary.

It's just another thing the developers forgot about. A bit like gold dust. There should have been a recipe but there isn't, so you have to use the alternative method of getting it. I doubt SE intended us to fight rank 95 mobs to get mats for a rank 42 tool.

Although it is interesting that the jester's cap seems to be the only vintage piece you can get by factions without having to synth an upgrade for it. They did that for a reason, why I don't know. Perhaps the recipe uses a material that isn't in the game yet so they stuck in the upgraded item too.

Which other ones can you get? I've never seen them. But I've only seen the vintage jesters as a reward once.

Ah yes, you can get "Vintage Kite Shield" and "Vintage Haubergeon" aswell.
I know i did, cuz i have them and i never did any upgrades.

They also rare as the Jester's cap.

iirc v.celata, v.scutum, and I know 100% for sure v.hauby (had one pop up just now oddly enough).
