... when nearing a major patch?
Maybe I just an over-active imagination, but I always imagine what the devs might be doing in the final moments of a patch before release.
Possible scenario: Red alarm lights flashing, and people scurrying about provide the backdrop to Yoshi screaming at an intern in a coffee stained shirt to bring him some more coffee that doesn't taste like yak piss. Everyone's normally pressed white shirts shirts are sweat-stained and disheveled, and papers are flying about the room as people frantically search for a solution to the patch not being anywhere close to ready. All the while an ominous countdown repeats endlessly in a gentle yet firm female voice, "Attention! Patch goes live in t-minus 15 minutes. Installation must be complete or total system failure will occur."
Scenario two: Yoshi-P and Foxclon are sitting around in a darkened room with a big green button in front of them that reads "On." A mostly empty bottle of sake is on the table and the two are having a giggling fit while Yoshi is drunkenly explaining to F for the 10th time that the patch has been ready to go live for hours, he just enjoys watching the little people squirm on the forums.
