If you are "looking into this" along with the rest of the 2000 things you're currently looking into... Maybe a forum "restructure" is needed.
(They are not productive in their current state)
mostly due to obvious troll/fanboy/retarded reasons.
I'd like to know if there's an actual game designer working on XIV and has some sort of vision for this game or are they just obeying to every request they can from the public who mostly want this game to be like any other MMO?
Not that I'm against polls but I sort of miss the days when each game director had full control over the project. Legends like Shinji Mikami, Hironobu Sakaguchi, Fumito Ueda, Hideki Kamiya and Hideo Kojima.
Why can't a massive company like SE hire one of the greats?
No, Peregine's right on this one. We absolutely did tell them not to release it. The beta feedback forums were inundated with posts telling SE, straight out, push back the release date on this game. It's not ready. I remember the deluge, because I was one of the many people saying it.
They just didn't listen.

If Hideo Kojima directed this game we'd have an epic story at the very least and we can be sure to have quality gameplay...and considering his experience with MGS3 the Black Shroud might actually look like a forest!I'd like to know if there's an actual game designer working on XIV and has some sort of vision for this game or are they just obeying to every request they can from the public who mostly want this game to be like any other MMO?

I posted a lot about how the game was severely flawed and needed serious updates before release and HUNDREDS of people responded by saying that the open beta was just an example and when the game was released there would be more zones and lots more content and UI fixes (they said UI was only bad because they were testing limits) etc.No, Peregine's right on this one. Sadly official release was -no- different than open beta and im pretty sure 90% of those people quit.
this is another example of poor communication. I wonder what would have happened if SE was honest and said the release would be like the beta instead of letting 1000s of people speculate on what the official release would be like and get let down.

Mew!
Yep so true. I defended this game in beta, I was so sure it would turn out better than XI at the very least and while I knew there were plenty of problems with the game in beta I didn't think they would release it half finished. I was actually so sure that the zones we got were limited to 3 out of plenty more! and I would bash every naysayers head in if they said anything remotely bad about the game and well little by little I became worse than the people bashing the game during beta because it eventually hit me how lackluster everything was and how its like they didn't even care about making a good game.I posted a lot about how the game was severely flawed and needed serious updates before release and HUNDREDS of people responded by saying that the open beta was just an example and when the game was released there would be more zones and lots more content and UI fixes (they said UI was only bad because they were testing limits) etc.

How about reading what you already have? Look at this thread. Look at how many likes the OP has. Look at how many replies the thread has, nearly all in agreement with the OP. This thread is IMPORTANT, and it's been ignored so far.
Hmmm, considering the fan negativity regarding the perception that "we'll look into it" is a non-answer, I would suggest the following:
For the next Q&A, just let the devs pick and choose 4-5 questions themselves that they think are good questions. Questions that they know they can give a good answer to, accompanied with lots of details and discussion in how the devs approach their design decisions.
Right now, we have a large quantity of dev feedback, but arguably low quality.
I think the fanbase would be happier if you instead had a low quantity of dev feedback, but that each answer is long and substantial.
edit: oops, wrong thread.

While the idea is good, I have to disagree with its implementation. I do not believe the amount of people actively posting in the forums is representative of the amount of people who have purchased the game, or those who play, have played, or plan to resume playing at some point (I log in to FFXIV and play regularly, however I only occasionally visit the forums).
Maybe if you found a way to make it mandatory... for instance, by having the poll show up both in the forums and in-game when you log in.
I'm not sure about the mandatory part, but making it appear in both places is a good idea. There are some people who play but don't visit the forums, and some who visit the forums but don't play much while they're waiting for changes.
