No, Peregine's right on this one. We absolutely did tell them not to release it. The beta feedback forums were inundated with posts telling SE, straight out, push back the release date on this game. It's not ready. I remember the deluge, because I was one of the many people saying it.

This is absolutely, 100% true. However, on the other spectrum (as there is always both sides present) there were just as many people saying "no release now. We don't wanna wait. No MMO is ever finished. You can fix this stuff later." Of course, these people mistakenly believed there was better stuff they were not allowing beta testers access to, so naturally they wanted the game to release so they could see it. Too bad it wasn't there. ^^

Polls would be good for feedback on how the updates and new contents are received, but as far as telling the devs what to do with the game is a terrible idea. Ever try cooking with three people at the same stove? Doesn't turn out well. To continue the food analogy, the devs are the cooks, we are the customers, and we should be telling them if the food is too bland, too salty, too greasy, or just plain vomit inducing instead of telling them they need to add more parsley to the food.

To continue with your food analogy. There's a restaurant ran by SE, customers already paid for the meal at 5 pm, it's now 11 pm and the cooks are saying "We're working on it" when asked about what or when we going to eat.

I'm of the strong opinion that the forum community represents a biased, often sabotaging portion of your demographic that will in fact **** on your game and make it unplayable for the majority if you let them. Usually the terrible combination of ignorant and insistant. Like CNN comments and youtube sections. Peope that say dumb things like that in life get backhanded, but lord knows the internet will take em and give em medals for it.

Actually, I think that's a fantastic idea. Many MMOs do in-game surveys. That way you make sure you're getting a more fair portion of the playing community, not just the forum junkies.

I really enjoyed the player polls they did early in the year.

I think sticking with a more brief, focused and frequent format will be most beneficial.
