    Unseen Enemies and Environmental Challenges

As the title reads, I would love to see some unseen enemies and environmental challenges implemented into FFXIV.

A few examples I can pull from FFXI are:

Unseen Enemies - the only ones that come to mind are the antlions in Attohwa Chasm and to some extent (because you can actually see them) the UFOs in Sea

Environmental Challenges - again in Attohwa Chasm, the large hill/mountain you had to climb without falling off; the pitfalls in Uleguerand Range; and the trap doors/combination puzzles in Castle Oztroja

I really do believe we need challenges of this sort to make Eorzea feel more alive, and dangerous. Maybe they could add an entire dungeon that is a labyrinth with puzzles to complete, rewarding players with different treasures based on their performance. I also love the idea of mobs we can't physically see, but must be very aware to avoid.

Another example I can pull from FFXI (also from Attohwa Chasm lol, what a zone!), are the plants that poisoned you as you walked by. I think it would be great to see more of the natural environment be a threat to the player. Anything that keeps me on my toes and is more challenging, makes for a better game imo.

Falling rocks, collapsing bridges, dangerous hidden fauna, pitfalls, trapdoors, secret combination treasure rooms, ANY of these things SE, please add some depth and flavor to these very bland and forgettable (yet nicely rendered) environments.

I agree! Enviromental challenges are always a good thing! ^^ However, if they even removed enviromental collision due complaints (hell...now i look like spider-man...i can climb ledges 1.5x my height...its disgustingly boring you being able to climb like everything in the way) i don't think they would add such "tricky" maps.

Your suggestion has my support, tho! ^^ I'd love to see the infamous worms back to this game, but working like antlions lol! you are walking and BAM! It pops from floor and bites your ass! They you need to run at random directions until you free from it and, meanwhile, it keep draining your HP. It not only would be challenging but also extremely hilarious! I always liked that NM antilion from Attohwa that ramdonly pops when you step at cracks! We need stuff like this here too! ^^

It was just one example of the environment/terrain punishing players, which I highly endorse! I don't necessarily want that certain obstacle, although it was always a great sense of accomplishment when you got to the top.

Speaking of terrains, I would love to see small coves, perches and obstacles that players (ranged in particular) can use to our advantage to fight certain mobs. I remember being very excited when SE made comments containing strong emphasis about positioning being a large factor in combat.

I know its the whole jump argument again, but if they did mountain climbing similar to classic FF titles (having automated jump or climb points in certain areas, but still having to figure the right path). They could really design vertical oriented dungeons without stepping too far outside expected FF conventions...and actually create better dungeons than XI.

I like your whole post, but I particularly like this part. I would like to see more content that tests my brain more than my brawn.

I like this idea too. It would be nice to have puzzles to figure out. I really like the labyrinth idea as well. I really hate how now everything in FFXIV is so straight forward. Its like the enemies do nothing to prevent us from attacking them, making it seem so unrealistic.

YES PLEASE! I have been asking for things like this for a long time. Some good zelda style logic puzzles, clever traps and vertical movement. Honestly the more there is to exploring the better.

I would really like the game to give us dungeon specific items that can be spread across the group (like the Zelda game's hookshots, boomerangs bombs etc) and then give us puzzles based on the items we have, as well as splitting the team up for two party puzzles (team 1 has to throw this switch so that team 2 can get this key to open the locked door in team 1's path). The more variety you have in your dungeons the better SE!

And of course vertical travel would add so much to the ways they could design the environment and dungeons. If Grid had been given a real Upper level in the trees I don't think anyone would have complained about it's design, because it would have been imaginative and cool.
