Oh me too. I would rather stick with pushing 1 a billion times than have auto attack.

The door to WoW, Rift, Aion, etc, etc, is always open, Reika. Haha!
There simply is no excuse for combat to be boring anymore. The combat in MMOs is not fun. Anyone ever play Monster Hunter? Now that combat is fun. There is no reason why MMOs can't have combat like that. Yes I would much prefer Devil May Cry combat over what we have now. I like to have fun and see cool visuals in combat. What we have right now is bland and what we are going to have is going to be bland.
Not necessarily if they can implement a decent teamwork element, make things faster, and still retain the dodging attacks element/implement more benefits/detriments to the positional attacks and debilitation system. There simply is no excuse for combat to be boring anymore. I mean sure, it wont be a Monster Hunter quality system, but then again...not everyone can play MH (series is awesome though, surprise Rathian attacks never get old). Really if you can have fun with a tactical RPG, i'm sure you'll be able to with the new battle system, however fast it ends up being.

I think if they made the LNC range actually mean something the way it was originally shown would be a great improvement. Also where are the PUGs Offensive and defensive stances the way it is shown still on the main FFXIV website? The arrow types for archers also dont make enough of a difference to warrant changing them out depending on mob type. Not necessarily if they can implement a decent teamwork element, make things faster, and still retain the dodging attacks element/implement more benefits/detriments to the positional attacks and debilitation system.

Exactly, and they'll probably have to realize those systems with these upcoming battle changes. They still have to look at how Gladiator's guard/stab/slash, and how the Marauder's steadfast abilities will factor into this. I think this is why people were excited about XIV's battle system possibilities prior to release, having to make more tactical choices during battle as well as having a faster system.I think if they made the LNC range actually mean something the way it was originally shown would be a great improvement. EDIT: Is there any way to actually post images on the forum?

While I still don't think Auto Attack adds anything if they fixed all of these other issues it would be a huge improvement. Even if they Fixed everything and add auto attack (which I think is bad) it would still be better than what we have now. However I don't think their approach to improving magic and battle effects by making them bigger is great either.Exactly, and they'll probably have to realize those systems with these upcoming battle changes. Hopefully the size increase is just part of the fixes, or at least it should be after all topics about it lol. Im not really for or against auto-attack since I really dont have a problem with the current system, aside from animations, effects, among other things. But if its going to be a much improved, well thought out system, you're right...it'll be much better than what we've got now. While I still don't think Auto Attack adds anything if they fixed all of these other issues it would be a huge improvement. That and I really hope they get back to focusing on the party vs party aspect, that was supposed to be so prominent in XIV.

The first step to designing a complete battle system is removing auto-attack, not adding it.
Rather than changing the style of attack completely, what would be the best way to go about preventing people from complaining about spammy actions or "lack of strategic actions"?
