    Thanks SE! Weapon speed please!

This will make the combat feel soo much better.
They could have changed the weapon speed without an auto-attack lol. how narrowminded.

How is a change in attack speed this way going to make any weapon different from the others????
    It's not going to.

It's gonig to make them all feel the exact same, there is going to now be 0 difference between them lol

Great SE you may as well just change the jobs back to FFXI lol
It's the only way your going to create and meaningful difference now.

Tangible weapon attack speed is something that makes for a much smoother combat experience. I never liked that a two-handed axe could attack as fast as a dagger, and generate the same TP. Kind of boring, really.

    To Grit,

Well in fact in FFXI you would gain about the same TP per second and DPS as any other jobs weapon in terms of just the weapons' stats. At least then it felt like something tangible. Now you just see someone swinging away at the same time as if there is none of Newton's laws at work.

"Man....That axe sure is big, yet you're swinging it like it's weightless!"

It seemed much more appealing that it took two swings from a Thief's dagger to equal the swing from a Dark Knight's scythe.

My advice is to make the auto-attack a mappable function for any 0-cost skill of the class. For example, Lancer has Light Thrust, Heavy Thrust, Pierce and Full Thrust that do not cost any Action Points to map to your hotbar. Why not make those abilities "auto-attack" toggle-able? Add a switch in the Configuration menu that lets you select "Set Slot 1 as Auto-Attack Toggle", that allows players who want to have Auto-Attack, to turn it on; those who would not want auto-attack, would turn that off.

That way, if you wanted to use Full Thrust as an auto-attack, all you'd have to do is map it to the auto-attack slot in your hotkey bar when the feature is enabled. This is a very simple solution to a complex and controversial problem.

I like what he had to say, makes me feel good about the outlook for this game. Bringing auto-attack back, but it won't be a carbon copy of FFXI.

    I am intrigued.

While it makes me sad to see any unique or special aspect of FFXIV removed, I can understand why they're moving in this direction. Adding auto-attack could make the battle appear as a faster fight while actually slowing it down and allowing for more tactical choices.

Really the only thing I hope is that auto-attack is implemented correctly and that they don't take the easy way out.

rather than debating which is better, why wont we discussing what kind of AA implementation that SE may use? since the dev said that they are going to implement AA anyways....

so what variation you think SE's AA offers? my wild imagination tells me that they gonna make diminishing damage when using AA...until we use WS.../lol

In another thread it was suggested that the base 0tp cost attacks that we have be toggled as the auto attack of choice. I like that idea.
