I was doing the WAR relic quest last weekend and end up had to main tank every fight because each PLD I ran in to had horrible gears. In Garuda HM the PLD had less HP than our WHM (yes, WHM was in DL, pero but still... really?)One more thing, to add to this thread. I've run into people at cap in DF who not only seem to have no idea how to play their job, but are running with mid-level armour. In creeping horror I realized they were probably just out of the FATE grind and never even bothered to go through their job quests to get their AF armour set ... which means that they were lacking skills as well. Maybe they just raced to top with their second toon and forgot all about quests.
Oops, did I say 'toon'? hehe... well, for them it probably is an apt term.

I ran a WP the other day where the other BRD was in mid-level pink gear, no AF or anything. His one ilvl 49 item was a tanking ring. One more thing, to add to this thread. The tank died twice on the way to the first boss, and I just bailed without saying anything, it was so sad.
This is why I don't DF any more, nor do many of the people that I hang out and run content with. I'll *think* about starting to DF again (for content that isn't just "lolwut?") with the minimum i-levels, but I'm still reluctant to because it's still a complete crapshoot as to whether the player even knows how to play their class.
As a warrior since beta phase 3 I swear I will loose it if I see a WAR tanking and NOT moving out of the way. Clearly they are a PLD who jumped ship upon hearing 2.1 buffs. While yes it looks good on paper WAR should not sit and eat hits like most of the PLD's I play with.
I am still mid-level and my GLD is my first time tanking any game. But I came in after researching the role.
As far as being horrified by low level gear, basic competent play makes up for a lot at mid-levels. I accidentally went into Haukke Manor still wearing my "around town" gearset instead of my "full battle regalia" set and tanked happily through the first mob before I remembered I was supposed to be wearing plate, not a velveteen shirt (hazard of multiple personas).
Had a few DF runs with Conjurers who just spam Stone instead of healing... made it through because I always cross-class Cure, and use Convalescence when it's off cooldown. And ask them to focus on keeping us alive, watch the little party health bars please... "Why is the GLD healing the CNJ?" "Because someone has to."
FATE are not the issue.
You can and will get a lv 50 by doing the main story line.
FATE grinding is really only for additional jobs.
Not knowing the basics of a role, or concepts like agro is simply stupidity. You cannot get through the main quest line without doing a good number of dungeons. If you havn't picked up the concept by then.... well... no hope for you.
Whats the Point of this thread? Those People who are capeable reading it would have read their tooltips. And those who can read and are able to understand it would have understood the tooltips.
