The Server is not responding

Whenever I try to update to the latest version of the launcher on Final Fantasy A Realm Reborn for 2.1. After a few minutes of downloading my download speed goes from 0.30mb to 0.00mb and then I get the following error message.
"The Server is not responding"
Please contact square enix for support

I have used all the recommended settings on the support page. I have opened all ports on my router. I have disabled all firewalls and antivirus software on my computer while giving the launcher administrative rights. All with no luck. I have contacted chat support and went all the way to a phone support but we still couldn't find the root of the problem.
This error also happened when I first got a realm reborn 2 months ago the same error was happening. I went to a friends house to use his internet and the same error happened so I suppose it wasn't my router. I was able to download it because his internet was much quicker and was able to download it before the error was able to pop up (though that was after 6 or so tries)
So I thought I might ask if anyone else has had this problem? I'm going to continue searching the forums for a solution but any help is appreciated!

Could be that everyone is trying to DL the patch. could take a few minutes to get it going, just keep trying

Thanks for the reply. But I believe if that were the root of the problem then I would not have had the same error 2 months ago.

I am also running into this error. Here is what happened when it happened.
I was downloading just fine, then I had to switch areas, so my connection was disrupted. (The original file was 3gb)
I then went to the hotel, and started the download downstairs, where the connection is much faster than in the rooms. (this file was almost 2gb, so it was partitioned)
It was downloading normally, then it errored out as you stated above with the same codes, and same steps (slow, then 0.0, then d/c):

I am running Windows 7, and currently in Argentina, where the internet sucks, but not .01mb/s bad.
Customer support said that maybe it has to do with server congestion, which i find strange since it happened rather suddenly.
The file currently downloading is 2013.12.05.0000.0000 which is smaller and different than the original 3gb file (I think).

8:29pm (Argentina time) I am currently holding a connection at .04 - .05 mb/sec which is twice as fast as it was, perhaps they are slowly fixing it.
8:31pm speed jumped to .07MB/s
8:33pm .05MB/s
8:36 .01MB/s (ugh it might DC)
8:49pm Didn't DC, still at .01mb/s
9:04pm .06-.08MB/s. Any internet activity drops my connection to .01-.02MB/s. This connection hold 1.5MB/s through speed tests...it almost seems like I get a % of the left over speed.
10:18pm .10-.12MB/s It seems it is a server load thing in addition to possibly location.
11:04pm back down to .02MB/s....what is going on?!

I don't think the servers can cope with all the traffic. I normally download at about 7MB/s, this is only going 1.4MB/s. So yeah, keep trying.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm going on a small assumption that it my be my router. Perhaps it is taking in too much information for it to handle and shut down. So I'm updating all the required firmware for my router. We shall see if that works.

I am constantly updating my previous post. What is happening? when are the breaks in the download? so I can turn off and reset to see if it connects better or w/e is the problem.

So very much this. Had the same problem when I installed after buying the game at thanksgiving. Now I have the same errors again. Solved last time by copying the game whole hog off my brother's computer. Anyone have a full copy we can DL so I can play this game I already paid for once servers are back?

Update: I upgraded my firmware didn't fix the problem. Ughh Thanks for the replies. And yes a torrent would be great. But I will keep trying.
