Yo! I am new! Someone become my mentor.

So, I am a new player on FF14. Started a couple days ago and am currently trying to understand the mechanics of the game. I am an experienced MMO plays with games such as Ragnarok Online, GW, Aion, Tera and hopefully this game under my belt.

As I am new to this game, someone teach me their ways. If anyone is out there with a heart and free time, would you please guide me towards the eventual nirvana of late game. If so, I have started on the Leviathan server and will be playing on the character "Abyss Limit".

I also play on Leviathan and can help you with questions that you might have. I also have a linkshell where people are really helpful and we try to help each other when we can. I'll contact you when I'm on tomorrow night (cause the server is down all day today and I have a day job).

Lots of stuff to know about and do. Depends on how you like to play games too. Mix/Maxer, RP, Casual, Hardcore etc. Most of the information is available online and most MMO traits are found in this game too.

Most of the action is lvl 50 though, anything before that can be considered a learning curve so may not be that difficult. Overall its a great game and now with the 2.1 patch you have lots of things to do as a newbie.

Whoa! Thanks for the fast reply. I will be on tomorrow for sure. I am eager for more information and some help. I am unfamiliar with the term "linkshell" though. Is it something like a guild in this game? I thought those were called Free Companies.

Linkshells are chat channels you can be a member of.

Like others have said, linkshell is this game's equivalent of a chat-room for up to 512 people (not sure, maybe less). I am also a recruitment officer for Arcane, a medium sized FC, that is always looking for new people to join our ranks. The people in FC are pretty helpful as well and we have Teamspeak as our VOIP for communication.
