No More logging in second Account to store mats on retainers???

I run 2 accounts the second one i just log in to and mail my mats to them for storage. I tested earlier tonight to see if i could log in second account and i now get the message A Final Fantasy: ARR updater/launcher is already running. this would not allow me to open a second screen just to see if the server might have gone up early...

You were never supposed to be able to have 2 instances running on the same computer at the same time. If you were able to do that, it was a bug. As far as I was aware, you either had to log in and out on the same PC/PS3 or have two PCs or PS3s.

(You can mess with processes to fool the new instance into thinking the game isn't already running, but that would be a TOS violation).

So far as I'm aware, and please correct me if I'm wrong, there is no provision in the ToS against using a virtual machine to host a second instance.

You could do it that way, technically. There is no way for the game to know it's running on a VM.

ffxiv said themselves that you are allowed to run 2 clients at once but not 3. If you run it in windowed mode u could tab between the 2.

To my recollection the ToS doesn't say anything about how many accounts you are allowed to play with.

Says the game client? Under normal circumstances if you try to run a second instance it tells you you the game is already running. Least, that's what it did for me.

maybe because the servers are still down? because the message is saying only allowed to have 1 updater/launcher open at once....once you actually launch the game, that technically closes the launcher, which might allow you to open the second launcher.

You can't run 2 instances of the launcher at the same time, but once you log in and get to title screen with 1 account in theory you should be able to load the other launcher and log in on the other, i regularly launch another launcher to check the news etc, don't like the in game interface for the news.

I hope they reconsider this one, it sent people running to 3rd party programs.

hoping maybe its just because tried to open 2 launchers i never tried to launch both at same time before always had one running and just logged other on to store mats on an alt

was just trying to load 2 incase the pink world maintenance icon on the bottom of launcher didn't refresh but i will just keep opening and closing the client

Start one instance of the game and then start the launcher again.
