"Why does SE make content not obtainable by everyone?" Huh?!

I'm seeing a lot of people complain about pricing of housing. While I can agree that the pricing is a bit over the top, it was something else that the whiners were saying that irritated me

"Why would SE go and make content that not all players can do?"

Really? Where does it say certain players will not be allowed to use FC housing? Did I miss something. Sure the prices are high, but no one is barred from actually buying it. Are there people that will save the money up for a house and the server will say no?

It's comments like that, that make everyone sound entitled. Yes it's expensive, yes it will probably take my FC a couple months to come up with the money, but if it's not something you're obviously determined to have, then don't get it.

With everything that is being added in 2.1, it is a shame that all anyone can see is the cost of FC housing. Forget all the amazing new content that we have been begging for. Forget PvP. Forget all of that! All the whiners see is the bad.

FC housing is a luxury in this game. The same way Flying License in WoW costs a crap ton of gold. The same way relics costed millions of gil in FFXI. While I don't agree with how high the prices are, I don't agree with people thinking that SE only cares about 2% of the game's population. You want it? Go farm it! It's an MMO, that's how things work around here.

I don't know man, people just like to be able to have everything all at once I guess.

We were discussing Destiny on Neogaf earlier, and an article had been released with info suggesting there will be a few co-op only end game missions. Some people went bananas because they were only interested in SP, and Bungie have apparently disrespected their preferences by not including them in 100% of content!.

I stopped trying to make sense of people a long time ago.

Because Japan is still stuck in the antiquated days of mmorpg design. And YoshiP seemed to look at vanilla WoW/EQ for inspiration, while ignoring most of the refinements made over the years.

Yes content that is designed for social interaction should be a luxury only for the most hardcore elite. How about doing the logical thing and making the housing attainable, but making the fancy stuff you put in there (irrelevant to the social interaction part) be hard to get? Or we can go further down your line of thinking and make it so it costs 500 million to form a FC in the first place and also make each emote 100 mil to unlock cause these are all super hardcore progressionist MMO luxuries.

Or he just wanted to make a game like this? Some elements of old, some of new. He just intended to cater to a small group of players afterall... Not his fault if people who dislike the game he creates sticks around to just complain more.

To be honest I kind of hope the "people with more time to play the game actually get more out of it" idea expands to more parts of the game. Trying to slow everyone down to the point that casual players are just as well geared and leveled as hardcores is absolutely ridiculous. People who play 4 hours a week should not be geared as well as people who play 4 hours a day.

All that being said, even I think the housing prices are slightly absurd. I'll wait to see how it shakes out in the end though.

And how is a casual player supposed to farm money for housing AND cap Myth every week?
A casual gamer with 10 hrs playtime/week can now decide.
