This is how new MMOs DONT make it.

I mean we all know the big baddies: WoW, FFXI, EQ...etc.

I mean we can all remember things they did while they were young that were incredibly stupid.

I mean this housing fiasco is by far taking the cake, but this is how new mmo's die. One mistake and boom, that's it folks.

Im talking to those of you who are looking to reclaim that old mmo home feel. To those of you who are getting worn from placing your hopes in that new shiny game that just lets you down (like today, like this weekend).

Im not saying ignore this craziness, im not saying pretend it's the best thing ever. All I ask is to take a step back, and see the bigger picture. Our favorite genre is dying before us. We give so little %^&*s for new games that we make them fight their 9-11 year old seniors who have expansion right hooks and casual and hardcore lefties.

None of those "big baddies" really have housing. EQ might, I haven't played it in several years now. What is this housing fiasco you speak of? The prices for the FC houses? You mean the thing 200 people can buy together? The thing that has abolutely no impact on game play?

It's easy to be top dog when you have no competition.

Now the list of MMO's is longer than my arm. FC housing won't be the fatal blow for FF14. Banning people who actually manage to get the Gil SE expect them to get on the maybe chance they did it RMT will though.

FFXI is one of the longest running subscription based MMO's in existence and is currently the most profitable Final Fantasy to date. Heck, it came out in 2002 and it just released another expansion this year - eleven years later. I'd say its a big baddie. 95% of other subscription MMO's have gone Free to Play within months. Why do you think they decided to make another FF MMO? (^_^ ;; )

Last I checked, WoW still had a considerable database. But yes, one big mistake to piss off the community and it is over.

    They need PUBLIC TEST SERVERS.

I love mmos, and i feel like there is this increasing trend to just game hop over and over. First it was Rift. Then Swtor. Then Gw2. Now its ESO and Wildstar. I;m not saying there should just be one (or a handful like the old days 10 years ago), just that, in order for the games in this genre that we are so passionate about (look at the forums) to last to be 10 years old, some people have to weather the bumps and bad patches. Whether it's the Developer's fault or whether we just have lower tolerances, we have been conditioned to just pack up and move on. Which I would agree that there has to be a line of "no more crap taken" somewhere but most modern mmos see that line in the first year.
