    i Played FFXI on PS2 for 8 years and just recently upgraded to PC for FFXIV,
    I bought the PS3 version of FFXIV and played it for a maximum of 1 day and come to this conclusion.

    PS3 limitations before 2.1 patch vs PC

    PS3 Limitations
    * 720p
    * No Focus Target
    * Cannot Zoom-out maximum distance (Yoshi-P: I suggest zooming out your camera to kill titan)
    * It is universally accepted that using a controller is inferior to a Keyboard/Mouse (I.E more potential).
    * Something in the code makes PS3 respond slower to the client making those clutch movement (Piercing Laser in Turn 2, Divebombs/Twister in Turn 5 much more difficult)
    * PS3 is an Old system Ram limitations/CPU/GPU

    Most if not all of these are remedied with a PC Setup. I for one myself play with a PC but with a PS3 Controller because it is much easier forme because i played ffxi for 8 years with one.
    PS4 could remedy a lot of these but currently the famous PS3 limitations is alive when playing FFXIV on it.

    Edit: Simply put - it is definitely possibly to play on ps3 with no problems but you must accept and understand you must be "Clutch" at all times. Given your limitations that are out of your control it requires more focus and better situational awareness than a PC user. (I.E Attacking Dreadnoughts in Turn 5 with No focus target to see Twister cast - Must pay attention to the boss and assume every time he lights up it is a Twister cast.)
