    Turn 5 and PS3 - Fill me in!

    So I want to know everything that makes this fight different for PS3 users. Yes, yes, we know, PC master race and all that crap, so we can skip all the jibes. I just want to know exactly what's causing issues. :P

    Firstly, Focus Target is coming with 2.1, so that's no longer an issue. TS and stuff could still remedy this anyway but it should have been included in the first place.

    Secondly, Fireball and Conflagration. I've heard mention of a "delay" on these spells but I've personally never seen it. The timing of the targets becoming visible and the attacks occurring are identical to those I see on videos PC. Am I just lucky does this have a cause unrelated to the format it's being played on?

    Next Dive Bomb. I haven't personally experienced this, as my static only reached Turn 5 last week and haven't put much work into it yet. Unlike the above though, this is something I've heard about more frequently. That this has a delay on the target, making dodging them pretty much out of your hands. Is this true? Input from PS3 users?

    Anything else? I've heard some people say the fight is laggy, but for me it ran like a dream. Especially after the stuttery Turn 4 with all those enemy models and annoyingly long load time when skipping the cutscene while the fight's already going on. Twintania herself was moving as fluidly as I could imagine on the format.

    Any PS3 users actually done this, and if so what job? Were there any major issues like the Divebombs? Because honestly, compared to T4, from what I've seen so far it's running perfectly.

    i Played FFXI on PS2 for 8 years and just recently upgraded to PC for FFXIV,
    I bought the PS3 version of FFXIV and played it for a maximum of 1 day and come to this conclusion.

    PS3 limitations before 2.1 patch vs PC

    PS3 Limitations
    * 720p
    * No Focus Target
    * Cannot Zoom-out maximum distance (Yoshi-P: I suggest zooming out your camera to kill titan)
    * It is universally accepted that using a controller is inferior to a Keyboard/Mouse (I.E more potential).
    * Something in the code makes PS3 respond slower to the client making those clutch movement (Piercing Laser in Turn 2, Divebombs/Twister in Turn 5 much more difficult)
    * PS3 is an Old system Ram limitations/CPU/GPU

    Most if not all of these are remedied with a PC Setup. I for one myself play with a PC but with a PS3 Controller because it is much easier forme because i played ffxi for 8 years with one.
    PS4 could remedy a lot of these but currently the famous PS3 limitations is alive when playing FFXIV on it.

    Edit: Simply put - it is definitely possibly to play on ps3 with no problems but you must accept and understand you must be "Clutch" at all times. Given your limitations that are out of your control it requires more focus and better situational awareness than a PC user. (I.E Attacking Dreadnoughts in Turn 5 with No focus target to see Twister cast - Must pay attention to the boss and assume every time he lights up it is a Twister cast.)

    I know of at least one person on my server that consistently clears T5 with a PS3 (I believe he's a BRD). I am a PS3 user myself and was able to get to Twisters consistently, however, me dodging Divebombs wasn't nearly as consistent... Thankfully I'm a PLD and have Tempered Will. I was getting frustrated so I hopped on a PC, and not once was I hit by a single divebomb in our 20ish attempts (and our first kill last night 15 minutes before maintenance too!).

    Take it as you will, but I'm sure my reaction time didn't increase overnight. I could notice a significant difference being on a PC in all aspects of the game. Is it possible to clear T5 on a PS3? Absolutely. Will it be more difficult on you and your raid? Hate to say it, but probably yes.

    While I can't comment on Turn 5, there are quite a few instances where the PS3 doesn't load enemy animations in sync with their cast times. For instance, against the Miser's Mistress, sometimes she'll begin the casting animation for Bad Breath then immediately cast it. Luckily, with her, she has red AoE markers--unlike Twintania's divebomb which doesn't have them--and they always appear in sync with her cast time, whether or not she displays the animation.

    I guess a more appropriate example would be Isgebind in Stone Vigil. I'm assuming that divebomb works similar to Isgebind's breath attack, and I've only occasionally seen that go out-of-sync. It really depends on how much stuff is happening on the screen, whether or not their animation will be delayed in comparison to the actual attack.

    There shouldn't be any differences. My static runs with a couple ps3 users and they have been on the same page as the pc users.

    The MT in my coil group used to play on PS3, bar a few odd one off issues it was mostly ok and we cleared everything including Twintania with her np. There were some sessions where things weren't quite right, she had a run where the first dive-bomb just wouldn't show for example. i remember another where Twintania simply didn't reload and display just before the twister phase started.

    So yeah, whilst playing on PC is most certainly preferable, stick an SSD in your PS3 and it's really not as bad as some people would believe.

    I installed an SSD into my PS3 last week.

    Prior to the SSD, there would be a delay between the target popping for Divebombs and the beep indicator and it made it much harder for me to dodge. With the SSD, however, the delay is gone.

    Not noticing any difference with the conflags. I think there is some delay between PC and PS3 judging from what I hear on TS, but it hasn't made any difference in positioning for conflags on time.

    The worst that happens on PS3 for me is accidental lock-on with the analog stick and lack of Focus Target... and I think both are getting fixed today.

    Well, that's reassuring to hear at least

    So every complaint except the Divebomb lag is pretty much completely unrelated to the fact that it's on this system.

    I'll have to see how it goes when I reach that phase, as the whole fight's ran like a charm so far.

    It's just I'd heard of some of the more hardcore FCs denying PS3 users, which - while it rubbed me the wrong way - I can still kind of understand in situations like this where it would put you, and of course the whole party through more trouble than is necessary. I mean my FC doesn't care anyway, but nobody wants to be a burden. But again, these responses are mostly reassuring.

    Just hope your connection is good. As a PS3 user I am fully aware of the limitations and have accepted them. That fact that its even running on it is a feat of innovation but that being said as soon as the PS4 version comes out I'm switching no questions asked. T5 for me at the moment is really not that hard, other than dealing with the mechanics of the fight. My connection is as usual and I really get no big issues i.e lag, disconnects, etc. Coincidentally I experience the most problems just before a maintenance/patch/fix and after it for 2-3 days but I know this is all SE's servers because if it was me I'd be lagging like hell when I play Killzone Shadowfall (which I don't).
