With the text commands, you can perform the animation for an emote without having it show in other's logs by adding "motion" to it. E.g., typing "/panic motion" without the quotes. This checkbox will let you do the same thing (use the animation without spamming anyone's chat log) via the emote window.
They just should have used slashes or something. They mean LB or L1, depending on the type of controller you're using. Obviously you can't hold LB and L1 at the same time, they're the same button on different controllers.

if people enable this... then how when others know when that person is directing an emote towards them? this just seems like an odd option to me. why worry about what is other peoples chat box? if they don't wanna see the emote spams can't they just turn off the filter option?
i understand your explanation. and what the feature does. i just don't understand its usefulness.
and that other thing...
Actions, such as autorun or registering cross hotbars, that require L1 + LB to be held down simultaneously will be unavailable while L2 + R2 and LB + RB cross hotbars are activated.
okay i can get how there is a typo there. maybe that whole thing is filled with typos.
i don't know of any interaction with XHB and L1. and i also don't know anything about using XHB with L1+R1. maybe they just messed this string up really bad. either that i am brain dead. xD

Stringing together several poses in a row to make up your own "dance" without spamming the chat logs. Or spamming the same emote over and over just for fun. Or a silly way to see if someone is watching. Or doing the motion for an emote with an alternate meaning:
/scared motion
/em has a brief spasm for no reason.
The animations for emotes can look like lots of things that are different from what the log message says, and it can be amusing to mess around with what it looks like.

oh wow. as you can probably imagine i am not the creative type. xD
but those are all very interesting uses. lol![]()
I believe the L2+L2 and L1+R1 are TWO new crossbars added. So they would be active only when you hit both buttons at the same time. It was discussed during the earliy days iirc.
So basically 2 quick access crossbars being added between the other two. So we would now have access to 4 full crossbars. Will see.
Yes it's not really clear without testing it. When you are actively pressing R2 or L2 and have the XHB active, pressing R1 or L1 will target the next nearest/farthest mob. This allow to change target without releasing R2/L2 to use the directional buttons. But when the XHB is toggled, if you pressed L1 for instance, you would change target (because the XHB is active) and also engage autorun and gloriously run in front of the next mob pack. This wont happen anymore, when the XHB is toggled, R1 and L1 will behave as if R2/L2 were active.and that other thing...

It's a nostalgic nod, imo, to the FFXI days when characters could make up amazingly complex dances (tarus!) and other motions that made them even more...human for lack of a better word. It was FUN and this over-geared, over-simplified, overly bastardized version of the game in which everyone takes themselves FAR too seriously needs more of it! I say we dance our non-existent asses off and remember what we're here for!It has several uses.

Now we need them to work on that PATHETIC excuse for auto-trans. We used to be able to have entire conversations in auto-trans with Japanese players (or players from any other nation) and even within our own linkshells for fun. It was GREAT! They've cut too many corners and left their loyal players out in the cold trying to cater too much to ...everyone in simplifying and speeding up the leveling and adding wow factor (pun intended) to the graphics.

This is intended for people standing together...you know, like friends or parties or other groups of people within a certain vicinity of one another. Just as in normal human interaction, there is verbal and nonverbal interaction.
This is just a way of making the game less dreadfully serious and perpetually GOAL ORIENTED all the time. It's like people have totally forgotten this GAME is a GAME...aside from people jumping around all over like a bunch of jackasses on crack that is. There are other ways to express light-hearted camaraderie in this game, and this feature is one of them. It makes people more approachable without being invasive. You can ignore them or you can join it, and it doesn't clog up your chat log with a bunch of unwanted...well you know...
